I’ve delved into two things that are new to me. Things that excite and terrify me all at once: directing and set still photography. I was driving home one night and ruminating on these two things. who knows whether or not I’ll be successful. Who knows how much I’ll achieve in either field. But the fact is it excites me, and the joy of life comes from the doing, not the achieving. If we look at all the people who’ve achieved great success, they usually say it’s the process and the doing that excites them.

So I’m just going to do. I’m going to do the things that make me passionate and that fill me up creatively. Hopefully, the rest takes care of itself. On my tombstone, I hope it’ll say, “She did that which excited and scared her” and not, “She achieved some stuff.”

So let’s just do, and who cares what mountains we climb in the process.
