Objects In Motion

Tee – Gap
Skirt & Belt – F21
An outfit with no shoes because I had no plans.  No need to leave the house and therefore no need to put on shoes.  It was a day when I could sit, and stop moving.  When the only exertion required on my part was that of a leisurely walk around the pond with Baby Girl.  And for that, whatever shoes were in proximity of the door sufficed.  It was a moment when things stopped for a bit.
True Story:
I think it’s becoming a habit, this stealing of my shoes.

A Touch Harsher And Louder

Top – H&M
Skirt – Moon Collection
Shoes – Payless
Earrings & Sunnies – F21
Necklace – gift from Poland
I’m in one of those moods today.   You know the one.  Life is a bit surreal.  Problems seem abundant and much more difficult to deal with than they probably are. Sounds are a touch harsher and louder.  The lights are just off and not quite right.  It’s one of those days in which it is best to retreat into a bubble of your own making, surrounded by your favorite shows, a cup of tea and whatever else gives you comfort.
I’m going to do just that, when I get the time.  Right now, I’m on single mother duty because of another one of Andrew’s business trips and will indulge those fantasies just as soon as Baby Girl is asleep.  For now, the hope of my favorite show and a cup of tea will have to carry me through whatever the day has in store.
I know tomorrow will be fresh and I’m sure I’ll come up with another crazy idea that will have me giddy with glee.
And that’s something to get excited about.

Yes, I Still Wear Clothes

Top – thrifted
Skirt – Gentlefawn
Shoes – H&M
Earrings, Hat & Sunnies – F21 here
Necklace – c/o This Enchanted Pixie

I realized that because of excitement and things coinciding at the same time, I’ve only had two outfit posts for you last week.  Please don’t in any way assume that this will be the norm. Nor should you assume that I went naked the rest of the days.  I assure you I did not.  Decency and the laws are intact.  I did indeed get dressed, and will be playing catch up on some posts.  It also helps me to be a bit behind on outfit posts as I’m going away for a week at the end of the month.  So I’ll still have something to keep you entertained. That’s if, you know, you find me entertaining.  Which I’m in no way assuming you do.  Personally, I find myself to be a riot, but I’m grading on a curve here you know?

Seeing A Lot Of Blue

Cardi – Old Navy
Tee – Gap
Belt & Socks – F21
Skirt – Uncle Phuncle c/o Emerging Thoughts
Boots – Feet First
I wore this a few days ago, but forgot to post it.  Then I had so many other things that it got shuffled around. But finally, eventually, if only several days late here it is.  Love this skirt – simple, elegant yet completely feminine!   I’m a huge fan of a simple gray and blue palette.  There’s something soothing, and so put together about it.  I’m a huge fan of blue in general however.  I think it has moved up the list over pink and purple to become my new favorite color.  A clear, bright, bold blue is so joyous to me, so clean and so chic.  Yup, you’re definitely going to be seeing blue here for a while to come.

An Ode To A Friend

Jacket – Old Navy
Top – thrifted
Skirt – C’est Moi
Shoes – Payless
Hair clip – Melinda Rose Design
Necklace – bought in Europe
Earrings – F21
I received an email from a friend of mine about Friday’s post, specifically regarding my saying that I need to photoshop out my bruises.  He’s one of the most aware people I know.  What I mean by that, is he’s sensitive and aware of the various pressures and constructs that are present in our society, and he’s specifically aware of the representation of women, or more the mis-representation of women.  He encouraged me not to photoshop my bruises out in order to stay true to the mantra of ModaMama – which is honesty and reality in the life of one woman.  So, I’m not.  You’re going to see all the bruises and other things – like my famous spaghetti burns.
Thank you for reminding me to stay true to myself and not to fall into the trap of fashion magazines and other misrepresentations of women.
True Story:
I played with my swords today in the backyard.
I’m fully aware that the neighbours were watching me, and what’s more is, I don’t care.
Maybe now they’ll think twice about throwing their cigarette buds in my garden.

When I Become A Buxom Woman

Blazer – UO
Top – H&M
Skirt &Necklace – Ruche
Shoes – Payless
Oh dear Lordy Lord! What one God’s green earth happened to my hair this day?? *yes, I did suddenly become a wonderfully buxom southern woman* For some reason it went from soft beach curls to limp rag in one fell swoop.  This is what happens when your husband has not idea of what good women’s hair is supposed to be.  That’s right, I’m blaming this one on you!  But the skirt was twirly, that kind of makes up for it right?
*crickets*
Right?

Wild Women Do What You Think Of Never

Jacket – Old Navy
Shirt – hand me down
Skirt – Mink Pink
Shoes – Payless
Necklace & Thumb Ring – F21
Safari Ring – Threadsence
I’m getting a bit more adventurous sartorially. *she says a little smugly* I’m actually a little proud of myself.  I used to never, ever wear leopard print – ever.  But then this vest was too appealing to resist and, well, once the barrier has been broken I think there’s no turning back, because then this skirt here became to appealing to resist…and there’s a tank top in a similar pattern that has me drooling.  So either I’m getting more adventurous, or I’m getting in touch with my inner wild cat.
Either one works, really.
p.s. While I was writing this post the song “Wild Women Do” from Pretty Woman was playing in my head.  Take from that what you will.

Happy Shoes

Top – Ruche
Skirt & Necklace – F21
Shoes – Winners

Guess what?  I wore this to a shoot. *sneak peek of that here*   Yup, this is the kind of thing you’ll see me wearing when I’m taking your picture.  Last year, I nabbed these fun sandals from the clearance section of Winners, and have been loving them ever since.  We met, we wooed, and now we’re happily committed to one another.  I wear them often and treat them well, and they never give my aches or blisters.  It’s a happy relationship all around.
True Story:
Baby girl has learned to say, “Fork.”
Though when she says it, it sounds dangerously like something else…

Life Is Good

Hat – Ruche
Sunnies – Lace Affair
Belt – F21
Shirt – Lucca Couture
Cardi – Old Navy
Skirt – F21 dress I sewed into a skirt

Sitting in the backyard, the golden setting sun warm on my shoulder and my legs tucked up underneath me,  I sip my cold, crisp white wine.  My husband is mowing the lawn while my baby girl squeals as she chases the dog who’s running for his dear life in fear of sticky fingers clutching his ears. Right now, right here life is good.

p.s. have you entered the giveaway?  There’s still two days left!
p.p.s.  I’m talking photoshoots today on Mom 2 MemphisAnd Ruby.  Check it out.

Talking with TED

Top – H&M
Flower Necklace & Tights – F21
Charm necklace – Lulus. com *have you entered the giveaway?*
Shirt – Ruche
Shoes – Payless
I love TED talks.  I’m a little late getting on the bandwagon, but I’m so glad that I got there eventually.  I just recently watched the one with J.J. Abrams on the Mystery Box in story telling.  I’m a huge J.J. Abrams fan.  Some guys, like him and Joss Whedon, just get a pass with me on almost everything.  I loved his energy and his enthusiasm talking about the mystery box.  Have you seen TED talks?  Which ones do you recommend?
True Story:
Andrew told Baby, “It’s nap time.”
She grabbed her blankie and headed upstairs.
Once there, she saw that the blinds were down and the room was dark.
So she walked up to the crib, grabbed on, and started bouncing saying, “Up, Up” to signal that she wanted to go inside.
I guess she was ready for sleep.
She kills me with her cuteness!
