Sharing. Sharing something here. We all struggle with something when it comes to our appearance right? Double chins, bellies, thicker then desired thighs – everyone’s got something. So here’s mine – I struggle with adult acne. Who the heck knew that at my semi-advanced age I would have to be dealing with the same crap a 15 year old, hormone raging, teenager does? Certainly not me. What’s more, is that I work in an industry that is so appearance centric I can’t not think about it all the time! Sitting in an audition room surrounded by beautiful women with clear skin, I pray that my acting skills will get me through and that the MUA on set will be talented. True, I could do something like take the pill to help clear it up, but I don’t like to put those hormones in my body, and yes make-up – covers it up, but the fact is I know it’s there and I don’t want to have to wear make-up.
And it eats away at my self-confidence. I know it shouldn’t. I’m more than my skin, I know I shouldn’t complain because there are people in the world who are truly suffering, I have more worth….etc. etc. ….I know all this. Tears are spilt, and it sucks. Thank you. Carry on. I promise I won’t sulk too much. Like I said, we all have something, right? Have a great Monday!

Continuing with the Toronto Star’s focus on childbirth around the world, today we talk about Afghanistan. I was reading the article when this sentence struck me like baseball bat to the back of the heart, “In this benighted nation, a woman dies in childbirth every 29 minutes.” This country has the world’s highest maternal mortality rate.
Then right on the heels of that came this: One out of every five children dies before its fifth birthday. The maternal mortality rate is 10 times higher than the number of civilians killed in conflict annually.” This is just the cusp of the harsh and cruel reality that faces women there everyday. During this week of Thanksgiving for our friends south of the border, I join them in giving thanks that I live in such a privileged place.

It was so deliciously warm yesterday that I got to wear shorts. In October. Hooray! These pics were taken on a walk around the pond where the Canada Geese and various ducks are stopping over during their migration. Which means that there are tons there right now. And Baby loves to look at them, and yell “Qua! Qua!” It’s absolutely darling to see her do this!
Oh, and I’d love it if you checked out part one of the engagement shoot I did. Thanks!

It’s beautiful and sunny, but deceivingly so. I put on shorts and a breezy top and stepped outside to discover it is quite nippy. boo-urns.
Yesterday one of my fav natural/organic cosmetic lines had a big sale. I couldn’t get out there, so Husband kindly went by on his break to pick up two products I really wanted – organic jojoba oil and organic rosehip oil. I love to use oils on my face. They’re so gentle and soothing. And I think we put our bodies through enough torture.
Speaking of torture, after my stroller run yesterday *sigh* I decided to do an actual run after Baby went to bed. So I ran for another 50 minutes. Crazy, I know! But sometimes I just have a lot of energy. Anyway, afterwards I was craving chocolate – badly. But I’m trying to really stay away from sugar. Instead, I made a protein shake with chocolate rice protein, banana, almond milk and agave syrup and did not go across the street to the convenience store and buy a chocolate bar. Yes, I was very proud of myself. Still am. *proud grin*

No shower. No outfit. Ratty old black cotton dress. Baby crying for the third day in a row. She’s teething so nothing is right. I feed her. Cry. I stop feeding her. Cry. I pick her up. Cry. I put her down. Cry. I take her for a walk. Cry. I bring her back inside. Cry. Everything is wrong for her today. Nothing is to her liking.

First off, I’d like to give a warm welcome to my new followers! I usually send each new follow a personal welcome message, but for some reason Google Friend Connect is not allowing me to do so for the last two weeks. So unfortunately, a group welcome is the best I can do. I’m so glad you’ve joined me! Let me know what you’re thinking.
Second, the outfit. I read in some magazine that the “look of the summer” is jean shorts, a crochet sweater and cowboy boots. Well, to be honest, I’m not a fan of crochet sweaters/shirts. I like crochet as a detail, not as a centerpiece. So, I decided to put a variation on the “look of the summer” by pairing my cowboy booties and jean shorts with a top that has crochet detail. It turned out that this was a great functional outfit to wear for my outing with Baby. We decided to go out and get lunch *okay, I’m the only one who ordered lunch, she ate what I brought for her* and iced tea. With Husband away on a business trip, I thought it was a great way to treat ourselves. Oh, and I also got a chocolate-coconut macaroon.
P.S. Sorry about the no make-up look today. In this heat, I can’t stand wearing any.
And today’s True Story warranted a post all it’s own, so read that here.

Top of the mornin’ to you. I’m up bright and early, too early for my tastes, but as every Mother knows it’s not up to my tastes. And last night marks the last time I’m going to sleep in my bed until next Sunday. I’m New York bound! Heading over to my sister’s place tonight. so for the next while I’ll be posting from NYC.
I’ve been there a few times. So here’s the question: any hidden gems that I should check out? Anything secret you’ve discovered that you’re willing to share with me? See you in New York.

So far today I’ve cooked 2 bags of carrots, 2 butternut squashes, 15 zucchinis, a bag of pears, and a bag of parsnips. And I’ve managed to squeeze in a 25 minute run. Just call me ‘Miss Productivity’!
And on no caffeine!
Yup, I’m cooking and freezing and prepping Baby’s food. She’s mostly eating what we eat, but occasionally we need to supplement her a little with purees. You see, she likes to feed herself, but since she’s still pretty uncoordinated, not that much foods get in her. And meals usually take about an hour. Sometimes she gets really frustrated with the whole process too, so it’s just better to feed her purees in between the mouthfuls she gets in herself. That way her little dumpling feet stay looking dumpling!
*I’m waiting for the inevitable crash in energy*
