That first day wasn’t as rough as I expected. This kicking coffee/tea thing will be a process, but the first day I limited myself to that one morning coffee and one afternoon tea. Yes, I have lower energy, and a bit of a headache, but at this point I don’t know whether the headache is from the caffeine withdrawal or from the seasonal changes that usually affect me.
Either way, one Advil to help with it and I worked through my day. I’ve been more tired, but that just means I’ve gone to bed earlier and gotten more sleep. Not a bad thing over all. The next day, again I managed to stay in my limits – though I cheated just a touch by making a second weak tea from the same tea leaves. Okay, whatever. Progress is slow.
It’s not easy to make conscious choices like changing a habit, but I’m definitely looking forward to being less dependent on a substance. I don’t like being dependent at all, much less addicted. So here’s to baby steps.
How are you doing with your changes? I’m eager to hear: tweet or instagram me.
