CatchingCodyK came

noticing alot of fashion bloggers posting about
tips; ex, cheapest fall boots, summer to fall tips, ect. She was thinking
“I wish someone would have a post to find all these great tips” and so
the idea for a seasonal link up was born. Modamama and EmmaDear is
going to be helping co-host this season!

This link up is for all the seasonal tips and ideas like this cute Fall Leaf Garland by JulieAnnArt or

What Rules?! Thursdays

Dress – Moon Collection  //  Shirt – Love Nail Tree  //  Sweater – made by my Babcia  //  Scarf – Kensie  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Tights – Hansel from Basel

Today’s rule to break is “No white after labor day.”  It’s an antiquated rule anyway, and I think most would agree it no longer applies.  So I thought a nice easy rule would be perfect to ease us out of the gate.  Next week we’re breaking the “No red lipstick during the day” rule.  I wanna see all your  pretty pouts.

Now today, let’s see how fabulous all you rebels are.

Link up your outfit post, Twitter picture, Instagram picture, Facebook photo, whatever link showcasing your rebellious style.   All I ask is that you grab a button or add a text link back.
Thanks.

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat *And a New Link Up announced*

Sweater – Smart Set //  Tank & Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Necklace – c/o Atterley Road  //  Scarf – c/o Sexton In The City  //  Ring – Body Blue Toronto  //  Bag – unknown
People often ask me if it’s okay to repeat outfits.  And my answer is always, “Of Course!”  If you find a great combo use it.  Use it and re-work it, repeat it, whatever.  Often just changing a necklace or earrings is enough to add some freshness.  I do this all the time.  Mix up pieces I’m loving and re-wearing fun outfits.  There’s nothing wrong with it.
We seem to have this idea that everyday has to be new and different.  But think about those things we love:  our favorite book, favorite movie, favorite grandma’s stew.  We love them because they’re great and they never change.  I don’t see the problem with a great outfit either.

NEW LINK UP!  On that note, I’ve been wanting to do a fun link up for a long time.  And I’ve finally got the idea for one.  With Thursday being the unofficial start of  the weekend, and with the weekend being a time when we feel it’s okay to break some rules, I’m going to be hosting a Thursday link-up all about breakin’ the rules in fashion. *’Cause I don’t really think there are any*  Link up starts next Thursday October 10th.  I hope you join me.

And the first rule I want you to break is : No white after labor day.  So antiquated.  Let’s show ’em how fabulous we look breakin’ all the rules.  Style an outfit that breaks this rule and link up next Thursday.  Easy peasy!

Weapon of Women’s Story

Sweater Cardi – Fate via ShopSosie  //  Dress – Love Nail Tree via Coal Miner’s Daughter  //  Boots – Call It Spring  //  Belt – Threadsence
I love the philosophy of Love Nail Tree:  the mission to tell stories that are neglected.  It makes me think of the quote that says *I’m paraphrasing as I don’t recall the exact words* if you want to tell original stories, tell stories about women because they’re never written.   So I thought it was appropriate that I wore this dress, which has a piano and says ‘Weapon of Story,’ to the set of Synchronicity.  It’s the soft sci-fi feature film I’m producing featuring a mostly female cast, and a female lead.

Personal Style And The Origin of ‘Unknown’

Dress – H&M  //  Sweater – Free People  //  Scarf & Boots *see how I achieved these DIYed boots* – unknown  //  Sunnies – F21
Here’s the thing *and I hope you’ll forgive me*  I don’t always recall the store I bought something in.  And the reason is that I have things in my closet that are almost a decade old.  I take care of my clothing simply because I don’t have a big clothing budget.  Since I like a large wardrobe and lots of choice, I have to take care of my clothes.  Hence, sometimes I completely forget about the origin of said item.  *I have a list on my computer for sponsored pieces since I want to remember those*
So when you see ‘unknown’ as a credit, I’d love for you to see that as me saying that personal style is something that can be had on a limited budget, and that great pieces can be around so long you have no idea where you got them.
*side note: this is another ‘heading to set’ outfit*
Happy Monday!

Giddy About Atterley Road

Sweater, Bracelet, and Necklace – c/o Atterley Road  //  Top – Zara  //  Shorts & Sunnies – F21  //  Shoes – Payless
The fabulous and chic Atterley Road has opened a US online store.  This shop has some drool worthy pieces, and I spent a long, long time choosing what I would like to feature here.
The Fairisle Stitch Cardi Coat seemed like a natural choice since I can wear it now on cooler evenings, and it’ll be a great mix and match piece in the Fall and Winter.  It’s a piece on its own, but I love that the neutral palette make it an easy piece to pair with other patterns and colors.  I can see this warm and chunky layer being around for many seasons.  It’s timeless and still unique.  Plus, it’s a great sweater to curl up in on cold nights. But I don’t want to really think about that just yet!
And the jewelry!  Oh my.  I chose the Multi Spike Bracelet because it’s just so freakin’ cool.  It made me think of a really chic Mad Max movie – spiked but super glam at the same time.  That’s a thing right?
While perusing the site, I found a new company that Atterley Road stocks – Made.  The pieces are made in Kenya in and environmental and socially conscious fashion.  What better way to stay chic than to support companies with a mantra like this?  And the jewelry is really beautiful.  This necklace in fact attracted me because of it’s simple interest.  Not too much, but still fascinating to look at.  It’s one of those timeless things you’ll wear for years.  Or at least I will.
That’s what I like most about Atterley Road I think:  the items are unique and still timeless so that you will find yourself reaching for them again and again for years. As you can tell, I’m a bit excited by this new shop.

Remix: Poodle Sweater

This simple poodle sweater grabbed my attention the very first time I saw it on the F21 website.  It was inexpensive and became an instant classic.

Top Right:  Shirt – Jacob  //  Pants – Gap  //  Shoes – Payless  //  Socks – Hue

Bottom Left:  Top – Jacob  //  Jeans – Guess  //  Shoes – Payless

Bottom Right:  Dress – Everly  //  Tights – Hue  //  Shoes – Clark

Just Darn Annoying

Jeans – Gap  //  Sweater & Sunnies – F21  //  Scarf – Trove  //  Necklace – Ardene  //  Bag – Ruche  //  Shoes – Threadsence

This is pretty much my sick outfit.  And not sick, as in super awesome and cool, but sick as in I’m fighting off a horrible cold that makes me feel like hacking out my own lungs.  I resort to comfy and cozy things when I feel crappy.

I find being sick really annoying.  I don’t feel well.  I have low energy.  But the responsibilities and tasks don’t diminish.  So I just find it darn inconvenient to have to be ill during these moments.  It’s not like there’s anything seriously wrong with me, so I know I’m fine, I just can’t get through my daily tasks like before.  So yeah, it’s just annoying.  I could really do without it.  Maybe I’ll start a petition that’s anti-cold.  Would you sign?

Occupy Winter

Top -Kensie  //  Button up – Hand me down  //  Pants – F21  //  Zebra Necklace – Lustre in Montreal //
Gold&Black Necklace – Kenya via One Thousand Villages  //  Ring – don’t remember
There’s new growth and sunshine, and though my heart does not rise with it yet, my brain knows it’s only a matter of time before the warmth and light of the sun push aside the dark and dreary nooks of the spirit left by the grey of Winter, and take up permanent residence.  Until such time, the softness of loose cotton, raw silks, and soft knits will keep me company and blur the hard lines.
Quote of Today:
“Sometimes you have to sit your ass down and relax”

Through The Wringer

Sweater – John & Jenn  //  Top – F21  //  Skirt – Skies Are Blue  //  Tights – F21  //  Boots – Locale  //  Necklace – Threadsence
That’s where I’ve been this weekend.  In an artistic and emotional way that’s where I’ve been.  It’s been an exhausting lat three days and I have been challenged pushed and amused.  I like to think that I’ve come out the other end a fuller, and more complex artist and actor.  But man, could I use some chocolate!  Lindt, would you like to sponsor me?
