Snow has started melting, as the rains have begun to pound.  Though the temperatures still swing in violent tantrums along the scales, there is the general feeling of warmth in the air.  As if believing it is enough to will it into existence.  In the meantime, I retreat to the comfort of an old tv show or book, and a cup of tea.
Maybe one day soon, I will be able to put my Winter boots into their annual slumber.

You guys all know by now that I’m not a Yoga practitioner. It’s just not my thing.  But I do love a good yoga inspired top, and not just for daily life, but also for my Kung Fu and Tai Chi training times.  This top from YogaOutlet is awesome.  I love the soft muted feminine colors and the stretch and flexibility of the material.  It feels like a cross between ballerina and yoga, but I’m gonna use it to look chic, kill 10Ks, and kick ass.

Of course, this particular day I wore it as part of a relaxing outfit for a day spent lounging and mucking about on my computer.  Which, as we all know, yoga wear is perfect for!

So I suggest checking out YogaOutlet to find those pieces for whatever you enjoy doing, be it dancing, stretching, punching, or doing jigsaw puzzles.

Clearly I’m A Very Disturbed Individual

Netflix, the on demand tv subscription, provides suggestions based on what you watch. I think Netflix must be seriously concerned about my mental health. Either that or it thinks I’m a morbid, serial killing, pedophile, with a post-apocalyptic obsession. Oh and Buffy – ’cause my Mom watched that while she was here.

“Because you watched The Following” – it recommends documentaries, reality tv shows, and movies all about serial killing.

“Because you watched Cabin In The Woods” – it recommends every horror show and movie ever.

“Because you watched Dual Survivor” – it’s recommended tons of reality and fiction apocalyptic and ‘prep for the apocalypse’ shows.

“Because you watched Daniel Tigers Neighborhood, Super Why, and Dora”- it recommends all the children’s shows.

Yeah.  I’m pretty sure that Netflix not only thinks of me as a disturbed individual with violent, apocalyptic, and children’s obsessions, but it actively promotes those obsessions.

I’m kind of embarrassed to show anyone my Netflix account.  More than my underwear drawer.  At least that’s all clean.  My Netlfix recommendations on the other hand….

Long Live The Day

Abstract Sweater – Lucca Couture  //  Beanie – Tristan  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Call It Spring  //  Necklace – Fredrick Prince via Homegrown Boutique
Every year around this time, while everyone is gearing up for Christmas, I’m just trying to make it past December 21st.  That’s the longest night and shortest day of the year.  I need my daylight.  I love the daylight.  I need it to get through Winter.  Cold and darkness are just too much.
I go a little crazy.   Queen’s I’m Going Slightly Mad starts running through my head on repeat.  I become a bit of a homebody *mostly ’cause I’m such a cold wimp* and I start getting cabin fever.  It’s a paradox I know.
So while you’re gearing up for Christmas.  I’m gearing up for December 21st.  Me and my vino are impatiently awaiting the light.
p.s. I kind of really love/want this Double Drop Necklace Fredrick Price right now.

These pictures were taken a few days ago – obviously the snow is not on the ground – but I needed to post them and here’s why.   I organize my photos in such a way that the ones I haven’t posted are always in the folder I’m working on and once I post them I put them in their separate file.

So as long as I don’t post them they’re always staring me in the face.  And I gotta say I have had quite enough of staring at the sunshine and no snow in these photos.   It’s just a huge darn tease!  So there.   They’re posted and now they’re filed away and I don’t have to look at them.

Just snow from here on in….le sigh.

What Rules?!: How To Mix Leopard Print and Plaid

Mixing leopard print and plaid is a rule that should be broken, but wisely.  I think the key is to keep everything else rather neutral and to stay in similar tones.  I mixed this shirt because both the shirt and the scarf share a deep, rich warmth.

True, I didn’t stick to all neutrals in the palette, adding tapestry shoes, and sparkles; so maybe I broke several other rules too?  I still think it works as everything tends to stay in that ‘deep warm’ category.

And if not, then the only people who saw this were the construction workers who have become my regular outfit taking audience.

p.s.  Yes, that is my girl in the background wearing a jacket over her pajamas.  Hey, it was that kind of day.

Next week, since it’s the holiday season, we’re breaking out the sequins for day by breaking the “Sequins are only for the evening” rule.

Another Horrible Mother Moment

Ever seen that movie Sophie’s Choice with Meryl Streep?  So she’s in a concentration camp and a Nazi makes her chose between her two children – which one lives and which one dies.  She gets to keep one.  The rest of the movie revolves around this choice.  It’s heart wrenching…and I’m going to make a joke involving it.

I say, ” We’re going to Gramma and Grandpas.”

Baby Girl says, “I wanna take my babies.”

I reply, “Nope, you can only take one.”

Sophie’s Choice for toddlers.

Just as dramatic… to a three year old.

That Time I Bought A Hoodie After Getting Peed On By A Lion

Hoodie – H&M in Berlin //Top – Smart Set  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Shoes – Sketchers
Baby Girl was ill the last week, so this was pretty much my uniform.  I wore this exact outfit for three days straight.  Varying only the underneath layer, and washing it after two days.  Yup, I get it.  We are only human and don’t always get to look good when our kids are ill.
Side note:  I wore this hoodie because it makes me smile.  Because it’s the one I bought at an H&M in Berlin right after a lion peed all over my other one.  Yes, you heard it straight.  While backpacking through Europe, I got peed on by a lion and after getting cleaned up in a bathroom, I marched across and bought this here sweatshirt.  It still makes me smile and giggle every time I wear it.

You’re Breaking The Law And It’s Serious

Dress – Line & Dot via ModCloth  //  Shirt – F21  //  Necklace – I forgot  //  Boots – Call It Spring  //  Tights – HUE

*This post will be aimed at bloggers specifically. Apologies*

Ignorance is not a legal excuse.  The giveaways we blogger run are legally called sweepstakes.  That’s the category they fall under, and daily I see tweets from bloggers promoting their giveaways and when I visit their site it’s yet another illegal giveaway that could have them facing fines or other legal penalties.  Please I beg you, please become more educated.  If you participate in a group giveaway by donating a prize etc. but didn’t organize it, you are still liable.

I’ll tell you the dead giveaway *pardon the pun* that it is illegal:  mandatory entries.  Legally a sweepstakes can not have purchase necessary entries, and under the law, the requirement of liking/following/leaving a comment  etc. *basically use of your time* constitutes a ‘purchase necessary’ or consideration entry, and that places you in the illegal lottery catergory.  Therefore, if you see mandatory entries, chances are other laws are also being broken.

For instance, in Canada in addition to the no mandatory entries law, you must include a skill testing mathematical question as one of the entries.  That’s why you’ll see on my giveaways the option to enter by answering 5+5=  *or something similar*  It has to be skill testing and it has to be included as part of the no purchase necessary entry options.

Weird, I know, but I’m not here to question the law right now, I’m here to plead with you to please educate yourself because a blog and giveaway is not worth getting fined or facing fraud charges.  Please, please, educate yourself as to the laws and the the risks you face.

It took me a few months of research and education to become confident enough to start offering sweepstakes on my site again.  Being educated makes me know that I’m not going to faces charges because of my blog.

Please read your federal laws.

*Update:  Upon further investigation, I’ve learned that anyone who enters these giveaways runs the risk of facing illegal gambling charges!*

What Rules?! Thursday – Red Lipstick

 Top – Audrey via Threadsence  //  Leggings – H&M  //  Boots – I forget  //  Scarf – street stand

Last week we broke the “No white after labor day rule.”  Today we’re breaking, “No red lipstick during the day.”  Next week we’re breaking the rule that says, “Never mix metal.”

I  chose a cooler more pink hued shade of red as I find it looks better on my a yellow red. And I kept the rest of the outfit intentionally low key and laid back.  How’d you guys do?

Link up your outfit post, Twitter picture, Instagram picture, Facebook photo, whatever link showcasing your rebellious style.
Thanks.
