The Perfect Fedora

Top – Ruche //  Jeans – Gap  //  Hat – known  //  Sandals – Rocketdog  //  Sunnies & Earrings – F21
Yes I’m still on set and will be for a while.  All week in fact, so these photos are actually from the weekend.  Sorry, fooling you a bit here.  But I love a great fedora.  Biking around this summer has meant that I don’t get to wear them that much, as I’m always wearing my helmet, but a fabulous fedora is pretty much my perfect accessory. That and amazing sunglasses.  Can’t live without those.

Personal Style And The Origin of ‘Unknown’

Dress – H&M  //  Sweater – Free People  //  Scarf & Boots *see how I achieved these DIYed boots* – unknown  //  Sunnies – F21
Here’s the thing *and I hope you’ll forgive me*  I don’t always recall the store I bought something in.  And the reason is that I have things in my closet that are almost a decade old.  I take care of my clothing simply because I don’t have a big clothing budget.  Since I like a large wardrobe and lots of choice, I have to take care of my clothes.  Hence, sometimes I completely forget about the origin of said item.  *I have a list on my computer for sponsored pieces since I want to remember those*
So when you see ‘unknown’ as a credit, I’d love for you to see that as me saying that personal style is something that can be had on a limited budget, and that great pieces can be around so long you have no idea where you got them.
*side note: this is another ‘heading to set’ outfit*
Happy Monday!

These Boots Were Made For Walkin’

Jacket – Zara  //  Top – unknown  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – c/o Dansko  //  Sunnies – F21
You know how they say shoes make the outfit?  Well they do.  These cool Dansko boots have a great weight and feel to them.  Such that they give me a bit of a strut.. and hells yeah I’ll take that.  I put on the outfit and felt good about it, but when I put on the shoes all of a sudden I got a bit of rockstar attitude.  Yes, I know it’s all in my head and I’m not really a rockstar but hey that’s what clothes are for right?  To play pretend.
The boots are really what did it.  Despite the fact that my bootcut pants covered the top of them *side note:  can’t wait to wear them with a cute dress to show off the button detail*  they added a great finesse to my whole day.  I love the classic cut with a little unique detailing.  It’s something that can go with anything in your closet, and be timeless, but still have a bit of stand alone edge.
Oh and yeah, they’re super comfy.  My feet were not sore after a whole day of walking, meetings, and biking.  Yes, I biked in them all around Toronto.  That’s just how I roll.

Beach Day Adventure

Dress – bought in Spain years ago  //  Shoes – Ruche  //  Sunnies – F21
When my dear girlfriend, Emily, takes photos of me I always end up giggling like a fool in them.  It’s because I always remind her to focus *which she has had trouble with in the past* and she always gives me faces and calls me *child appropriate* names.  So I always giggle because she’s funny when she’s being fake angry. That’s why you see the pictures that you do.
As you can tell we went to the beach.  Baby Girl and Emily tried, unsuccessfully, to fly a kite.  And there was playing ball in the water, food, chocolate, and lots of other fun stuff.  By the time I put Baby Girl to sleep that evening *”I no wanna go sleepytime!”* she was so tired she was out like a light within 2 minutes.

Montreal Je T’aime Part 1

Dress – Smart Set
Shoes – Payless
Jewelry – c/o Bijous Caro
Our first day in Montreal was bittersweet.  The sweet being a wonderful receptionist who upon hearing it was our anniversary decided to gift me an entire set of her handmade jewelry!  Right up out of nowhere she asked me to choose a piece.  When I chose the necklace, she said, “Well, this is part of a set” and she reached for the matching bracelet and earrings as well.  I was stunned by this sudden wave of generosity!  The other sweet:  The delicious duck breast in espresso and honey sauce that I had for dinner.  And for the bitter, it rained, poured down on us as we rushed back to the hotel in the evening.
But the street performers were our entertainment throughout the entire weekend!

Best Laid Plans

Hat – F21
Sunnies – honestly, don’t remember
Dress – bought in Barcelona, Spain.
Flip Flops – Abercrombie & Fitch
Wednesday I had all these plans.  Big plans.  Grandiose plans.  I was going to accomplish great things.  Move countries, topple mountains.  But what did I do?  I went to the audition I had to go to, and then came home and took a two and a half hour nap before going to host the show.  Two and a half hour nap….I just needed to say that again.  *courtesy of the husband who watched baby girl for half of that*
Both the countries and the mountains have nothin’ to worry about.

p.s.  I really have to remember to take the sunnies off for pictures…two days in a row I’ve had both them and the hat on for shots.  Sheesh!

100 Into Everything

Top – Smart Set
T-Shirt – honestly don’t know, sorry
Corduroys – Le Chateau
Boots – Threadsence
Earrings – c/o This Enchanted Pixie
Finally, after much scheduling issues and dealing with budget/tax issues *mostly those* I’m going to join a new Kung Fu school today in Toronto.  It’s been so long since I’ve studied at a studio, and I’m going to have to unlearn quite a few things, but I’m really looking forward to training and studying again.  I’m no Jet-Li but I do love the art and really, since I have no delusions that I’ll ever be Jet-Li, that’s all that matters.

I used to stress that I couldn’t throw myself 100% into everything because that’s what it took to be the best, but I’ve realized that I don’t need to be the best at everything.  There’s a lot of things I love, and as long as I’m doing what I love that’s what matters right?  On that note, have a great day doing what you love!

Say “Hello” To The Boots

Sweater – Smart Set; Dress – H&M; Tights and Socks – F21; Boots – Locale.

Hope you like these new boots of mine, ’cause you’ll be seeing a lot of them in the next little while.  They’re the boots off my dreamlist for X-mas and B-Day.  I decided to get them myself because I have no winter boots, and I really can’t go through another few months of frostbitten toes.  What I love about these boots is that they look like a regular pair of riding boots, but inside they’re lined with thick fur *not real, of course* and some kind of fleece type material.  So basically, they’re toasty warm!

I also wore this outfit out to a Posthuman dinner.  The only change I made was to throw my hair up, put on sparkly earrings, and change my boots and socks for a cute wedge heel with a bow *I’m sorry I forgot to grab pics of that!*  I like how easy it is to transition outfits from day to night just by changing a few accessories: earrings, shoes and hair.

And just before I leave, here’s a big “Hello!” to one of my youngest fans, Belle!  Glad you like the dresses and boots I post here!   Sounds like you and your Mama are two stylish gals!

True Story:
This one’s not a personal story, but I just love the show House so much I had to share this with you guys.  It’s too funny!
