Instead of my regular post I’m writing a cry for help today.  I’m
serious.  I’m being held hostage.  She’s short, and blond, and has a bit
of a lisp.  She also sucks her thumb and can currently be found wearing
a bright blue and pink fairy costume. Call for help.

She
makes me build blocks endlessly, and dance and twirl until I can’t take
it anymore.  I think she might be a little sadistic too since she
smiles and giggles as I twirl or build again despite my momentary
resistance.

And that’s another matter.  I have no resistance.  I build and twirl and dance on command as she laughs. Laughs I tell you.

Call Child Protective Services please.  I’m desperate.  They protect you from children right??

Social Media Is An Ad W%@*#

Social Media.  Yeah, I’m talkin’ about that today.  It used to be that twitter was for trying to be the wittiest possible.  The game was, “How profound can you be in 140 characters?”  It used to be that.

Now, now it’s a freakin’ ad whore.  *sorry Grandma.  Wait, what am I apologizing for?  My Grandma has a fouler mouth then I* Yup, I used that term, and I meant it.  It seems that every tweet I read is about this giveaway, or that review, or this product.  I get it.  Everyone’s making money off these reviews, and giveaways *don’t get me started on how many are illegal!*.  But really?  Can we not all temper it a bit?  Can it not be every single effin’ tweet that I read?

All you fellow fashion and beauty bloggers, can we please regain a sense of decorum?  I would love it if everyone used a bit of self restraint.  Please let’s all go back to political discussions and profound thoughts in 140 characters or less.  Sure, fine, squeeze in that review or giveaway tweet.  Fine, I get it.  It’s all about promotion.  But I would really enjoy a little substance with my superficiality.  All I’m asking is that not every other tweet be about the review, or giveaway.  Can we at least manage every fourth tweet?   Is it really too much to ask?

If I met you on the street you wouldn’t talk to me with ads and shameless self-promotion would you?  If you did, I might punch you….or I might dream about punching you and simply walk away while you’re mid sentence.  So let’s bring back a little of that human sincerity into social media.  Can we all just do that?  Is that okay?  By the way, read my review of  “Human Sincerity” and enter the giveaway too.

Cute clothes for women, that’s what we think about when you think fashion blog.  But then I share that I’m a mom, and people say they never would’ve guessed, and look at my outfit.  Who says that the second we become Moms, or Dads, that we’re relegated to mommy jeans and cardigans?   Though it would be hilarious to see a Dad in mommy jeans. But I digress.

I firmly believe that style is not relegated to one stage of life, or to one age of life.  Style, in my mind, is a reflection of where you are in life, and what you’re feeling and thinking in that moment of time.  It’s ever in flux.

Perhaps, that’s why I don’t believe in a uniform.  A uniform implies no ebb and flow.  It implies a certain stagnation to me, a lack of experimentation and growth.  But maybe that’s me.  Maybe they’ve got it all figured out and have arrived at their true and complete selves – their personal nirvana and have no where else to go.

Me?  I am ever curious about what’s around the corner.

What Rules?! Thursday – Red Lipstick

 Top – Audrey via Threadsence  //  Leggings – H&M  //  Boots – I forget  //  Scarf – street stand

Last week we broke the “No white after labor day rule.”  Today we’re breaking, “No red lipstick during the day.”  Next week we’re breaking the rule that says, “Never mix metal.”

I  chose a cooler more pink hued shade of red as I find it looks better on my a yellow red. And I kept the rest of the outfit intentionally low key and laid back.  How’d you guys do?

Link up your outfit post, Twitter picture, Instagram picture, Facebook photo, whatever link showcasing your rebellious style.
Thanks.

Persistence is The Key To Rebelliousness

Sometimes things are harder than you think they are.  Sometimes you’re not prepared for the challenges that will arise.  And sometimes you just have to give it time and hope that the idea you had is enough to generate interest and to spurn a spirit of creativity.  Yes, last weeks first link up of rule breaking fashion was frankly a bit of a disappointment.  I had hoped to see more people there, but the people who were there were spectacular!  I visited every single one.

It’s a good idea for us to intentionally break fashion ‘rules’ and to have a good time doing it.  So I’m going to persist in it.  I’ll post the link tool every week, and I hope you’ll join me.  *tomorrow we’re wearing red lipstick during the day, if you’re wondering*  If not, at least I’ll have some fun breaking another rule every week.  ‘Cause you know I’m oh so dangerous, and such a rule breaker.

What Rules?! Thursdays

Dress – Moon Collection  //  Shirt – Love Nail Tree  //  Sweater – made by my Babcia  //  Scarf – Kensie  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Tights – Hansel from Basel

Today’s rule to break is “No white after labor day.”  It’s an antiquated rule anyway, and I think most would agree it no longer applies.  So I thought a nice easy rule would be perfect to ease us out of the gate.  Next week we’re breaking the “No red lipstick during the day” rule.  I wanna see all your  pretty pouts.

Now today, let’s see how fabulous all you rebels are.

Link up your outfit post, Twitter picture, Instagram picture, Facebook photo, whatever link showcasing your rebellious style.   All I ask is that you grab a button or add a text link back.
Thanks.

Everything Is Malleable

Dress-  Moon Collection via Ruche //  Shirt –  Cotton Candy via Threadsence  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Ring – Spotted moth  //  Bracelet – F21

Nothing is relegated to specific categories in fashion any longer.  Which is why all the ‘rules’ can be broken.  A bridesmaid dress like this one can be worn when running errands around town.  It suits those needs just as well as it suited my needs when I was maid of honor at my best friend’s wedding.
I think that’s part of the reason I’m starting this new link up.  I want us to show each other, to inspire each other, on the magical and fun ways we can break all the fashion rules and look fabulous doing it.  I love seeing what someone else comes up with and having that spark my imagination.
*First rule we’re breaking:  no white after labor day.  So style an outfit, post it anywhere – doesn’t have to be a blog – and come back to link up next Thursday! No follows required.*

Pull Over I’ve Got To Throw Up

Skirt – One Rad Girl  //  Top – I forget *old*  //  Necklace – F21  //  Shoes – Threadsence

I was headed to set again this fine morning *so that means no hair or makeup done* and we had to pull over because our girl suffers from the same things I did when I was a child – car sickness.  So we had to let her out of the car to run around after she had thrown up *she was fine two seconds after*, and I figured that was as good a time as any to take some outfit shots.

Here I am folks, in my bright nerd glory.  On set one of the guys turned to me and said, “You really are such a nerd.”  I answered, “Yes, yes I am.”

Indulgent In Me

Dress – Zara  //  Jacket – thrifted  //  Sandals – F21  //  Necklace – I forget
The heat has made it so that every day is a swim day.  And Baby Girl is really sad about it. *sarcasm fully intended*   I really did nothing else but hang about the house and then head for a swim.  She and I trekked the 10 minutes to the local pool for a fun dip and play time. *The playground is right beside the pool.  Convenient huh?*
So the fringe, lace, silver, and white is really for the sake of me.  Honestly, no one else cared how I was dressed, no one saw it, there was no special occasion.  Just me.  And I felt glamorous all dressed up.
p.s.  Remember to enter the cool Gracie B giveaway.

Certain Trends…

Top – thrifted //  Pants – Season. Js  //  Shoes – ModCloth  //  Hat – unknown brand  //  Sunnies & Necklace – F21  //  Bracelet – H&M
…come along and you wonder why?  Or you just figure you’ll pass on this one.  Then sometimes, other trends come by and you wonder how you ever survived without them.  The pajama pants trend is one of those for me.  Clearly.
Wearing pants that look like they’re more suited to the bedroom than outdoors is perhaps one of the best things.  There’s something exposing about it, and yet utterly comfortable *especially these uber soft and silky ones* as they are the most comfortable things ever.  I like it a bit because it throws off my equilibrium by throwing things outside their acceptable constructs.
