The Perfect Fedora

Top – Ruche //  Jeans – Gap  //  Hat – known  //  Sandals – Rocketdog  //  Sunnies & Earrings – F21
Yes I’m still on set and will be for a while.  All week in fact, so these photos are actually from the weekend.  Sorry, fooling you a bit here.  But I love a great fedora.  Biking around this summer has meant that I don’t get to wear them that much, as I’m always wearing my helmet, but a fabulous fedora is pretty much my perfect accessory. That and amazing sunglasses.  Can’t live without those.

Today. Today, I Am On Set

Top – Lush // Skirt – H&M //  Sandals – Rocketdog  //  Necklace – Threadsence  //  Sunnies – F21
Today.  Today I start shooting on the feature film that I’m producing and acting in!  Today.  Today I am in the office.  On set, at varying locations, including parks, bars, universities, houses, and cafes.   Today.  Today I start makin’ it happen.  Today. Today, is the first day of a long awaited project and it’s going to be great.  Today.  Today, I am an actor and producer.
Today. Today, I thank all of you who tweeted, and contributed to this project. Thank you!   If you’d like to see behind the scenes updates of what you helped make possible, don’t forget to follow me on twitter and instagram.

What to do with Leftover Juice Pulp

My regular obsession with juicing has led me down another path:  cooking…sort of.  Don’t get me wrong, Andrew is very much the gourmet and I have no intention of fighting for that title.  It’s just that as I’ve been juicing, every time I got rid of the pulp I was disheartened about the waste.  So what did I do?  I finally figured out what to do with the pulp.

I made two batches of gluten/dairy free muffins with veggie pulp.  And then made a curried potato stew with the rest of the pulp.  Yay!  I have good nutritious meals and yummy juice.

I’m thinking of putting it into pastas, and stir fries too.

Vampires And Kimonos??

Top – c/o Gracie B. Boutique // Jacket – Zara  //  Shorts & Sunnies – F21  //  Boots – DIYed  //  Necklace – Ardene
I love kimonos.  Honestly, can’t get enough, and I want to own every single one.  The problem?  I’m still figuring out how to wear them.  I’m playing and trying to see what works for me and what doesn’t.  Maybe here’s where I can finally stat using Pinterest.  Oh that’s what that thing is for right?
I’m gonna play folks.  I’m gonna have some fun…but be warned, that means some outfits may suck.  And suck a lot.  It takes trial and error to figure things out.  Get ready for some major suckage.
*Side note:  I believe I may be watching too many Vampire things lately…everything ‘Sucks’*

Raggedy Ann And Playing Pretend

Skirt – Ruche  // Top – Anthropologie   //  Shoes – Payless  //  Belt – swap  //  Earrings – F21
Sometimes, in the midst of craziness, like trying to get Synchronicity funded, I have a moment of just plain fun.  Like, when I went this one morning to be a hair model for my friend.  I got to have my hair professionally done and walk around all super fancy for the rest of the day.  It was so glamorous.
Of course, the following day I was back to my old raggedy Ann self, but it’s always fun to play pretend.

Fake It ‘Til You Make It

Dress – Everly  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Socks – F21  //  Bracelet – H&M  //  Sunnies – Lace Affair  //  Earrings – vintage gift
That’s my motto this week.  I’m over worked and stressed out about the upcoming production of Synchronicity.   Nothing is particularly wrong, it’s just that there’s a lot of work and I want to make sure nothing is overlooked or forgotten.   The worry wart in me is hoping that nothing major goes wrong and that all the pieces fall nicely into place.  But this tired, and worn out gal is putting on a smile and singing Queen’s “The Show Must Go On” inside her head on repeat.  It’s a labor of love and I just have to try to find moments of rest somewhere in the next two weeks.  I am therefore, treating myself to a much needed facial.  One hour.  It’s all mine!

*I would really love if you checked out the Synchronicity campaign and if you are so inclined gave even $1- Thank from the bottom of my heart*

Personal Style And The Origin of ‘Unknown’

Dress – H&M  //  Sweater – Free People  //  Scarf & Boots *see how I achieved these DIYed boots* – unknown  //  Sunnies – F21
Here’s the thing *and I hope you’ll forgive me*  I don’t always recall the store I bought something in.  And the reason is that I have things in my closet that are almost a decade old.  I take care of my clothing simply because I don’t have a big clothing budget.  Since I like a large wardrobe and lots of choice, I have to take care of my clothes.  Hence, sometimes I completely forget about the origin of said item.  *I have a list on my computer for sponsored pieces since I want to remember those*
So when you see ‘unknown’ as a credit, I’d love for you to see that as me saying that personal style is something that can be had on a limited budget, and that great pieces can be around so long you have no idea where you got them.
*side note: this is another ‘heading to set’ outfit*

Pull Over I’ve Got To Throw Up

Skirt – One Rad Girl  //  Top – I forget *old*  //  Necklace – F21  //  Shoes – Threadsence

I was headed to set again this fine morning *so that means no hair or makeup done* and we had to pull over because our girl suffers from the same things I did when I was a child – car sickness.  So we had to let her out of the car to run around after she had thrown up *she was fine two seconds after*, and I figured that was as good a time as any to take some outfit shots.

Here I am folks, in my bright nerd glory.  On set one of the guys turned to me and said, “You really are such a nerd.”  I answered, “Yes, yes I am.”

These Boots Were Made For Walkin’

Jacket – Zara  //  Top – unknown  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – c/o Dansko  //  Sunnies – F21
You know how they say shoes make the outfit?  Well they do.  These cool Dansko boots have a great weight and feel to them.  Such that they give me a bit of a strut.. and hells yeah I’ll take that.  I put on the outfit and felt good about it, but when I put on the shoes all of a sudden I got a bit of rockstar attitude.  Yes, I know it’s all in my head and I’m not really a rockstar but hey that’s what clothes are for right?  To play pretend.
The boots are really what did it.  Despite the fact that my bootcut pants covered the top of them *side note:  can’t wait to wear them with a cute dress to show off the button detail*  they added a great finesse to my whole day.  I love the classic cut with a little unique detailing.  It’s something that can go with anything in your closet, and be timeless, but still have a bit of stand alone edge.
Oh and yeah, they’re super comfy.  My feet were not sore after a whole day of walking, meetings, and biking.  Yes, I biked in them all around Toronto.  That’s just how I roll.
