Sharing.  Sharing something here.  We all struggle with something when it comes to our appearance right?  Double chins, bellies, thicker then desired thighs – everyone’s got something.  So here’s mine – I struggle with adult acne.  Who the heck knew that at my semi-advanced age I would have to be dealing with the same crap a 15 year old, hormone raging, teenager does?  Certainly not me.  What’s more, is that I work in an industry that is so appearance centric I can’t not think about it all the time!  Sitting in an audition room surrounded by beautiful women with clear skin, I pray that my acting skills will get me through and that the MUA on set will be talented.  True, I could do something like take the pill to help clear it up, but I don’t like to put those hormones in my body, and yes make-up – covers it up, but the fact is I know it’s there and I don’t want to have to wear make-up.

And it eats away at my self-confidence.  I know it shouldn’t.  I’m more than my skin, I know I shouldn’t complain because there are people in the world who are truly suffering,  I have more worth….etc. etc. ….I know all this.   Tears are spilt, and it sucks.  Thank you.  Carry on.  I promise I won’t sulk too much. Like I said, we all have something, right?  Have a great Monday!

Stolen Hats And Playful Pats

I think this new toddler stage is my favorite.  There’s a new word almost everyday, a new action or discovery everyday, and more fun and games.  Mama’s hats are stolen and worn throughout the afternoon because they’re a lot more fun than her own, cardboard boxes are the ideal toys until they rip and a chorus of  ‘Uh-ohs’ commences with a lower lip stuck out further than I thought possible, and hugs and kisses are given freely and playfully complete with a tiny hand patting you on the back and a little nose nuzzling your neck.

And A Good Morning

Baby Girl spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, and we got a whole afternoon and night to ourselves.  We both got to sleep in and are having a leisurely morning today.  As much as I missed her last night I really appreciate the much needed solace and break we’re currently enjoying.  Now I’m going to have breakfast and then a long, glorious run.  I’m enjoying the day, before I’m on set again tomorrow.
Happy Friday!

Square Safari Ring – Threadsence
I’m feeling rather in between.  A lot of possibly great things are happening, and it feels like I’m sitting on the edge of a precipice.  I’m hoping that soon the tipping point will come and things will move forward with an unexpected momentum, but I’m weary that my expectations have reached too high and that I will continue sitting on the edge of the precipice – unmoving, static.

Wish I could see the future.

p.s. Congratulations to Adrianna Prosser for winning the SuperHero Contest!  Check out her entry, and all the other ones here!

True Story:
Baby girl has spontaneously learned how to give props – full on fist and everything.
Andrew and I are both scratching our heads as to where she picked that up!
Does she sneak out of her crib at night and go clubbing?

Pruned and Planted

Shirt – hand me down
Dress – Ruche or Modcloth
Shoes – thrifted *they’re my mucking about the yard shoes*
Got my garden done!  I pruned, seeded, and planted!  Now I can’t wait until my delicious and organic garden grows!  I’ve got golden cherry tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, spinach, mixed colored carrots and plenty of herbs.  But the surprising thing this year was how much the raspberry bushes grew!
So as I tweeted yesterday, I’ve got my post-apocalyptic skill set ready: swords, firearms, and gardening.  Speaking of firearms *and only because I got to carry a fake one* we wrapped the new premiere episode of Posthuman.  Everything’s been re-shuffled and reorganized for the June premiere on the SFN network.  Stay tuned, and I hope you check it out!
True Story:
I love how when I lift baby girl from her crib she automatically assumes the position of wrapped legs around my torso, arm around me shoulder, and head nuzzled in to neck.
It’s so precious and cuddly.  I can’t get enough!

Playing Catch-Up

Dress – Ruche

My computer’s back, but things are a whirlwind mess and I’m trying to catch up flailing like a chicken with her head cut-off.  Today, I’m working hard on the garden to get that thing planted and growing.  And oh goodness, so many other things to do, I honestly wonder when I’ll ever get the time!
Hope you’re having a great tuesday!

I’m Baaaaack

I’ve been so MIA on social media and this blog for the last week because my computer’s been in the shop – but now it’s back….for now. *cue ominous music*  It’s not doing too well, the poor babe.   I’m not sure how long it’ll be before it totally craps out on me and dies a permanent death.  Thank goodness I had the sense to back up everything before it went in, because they had to replace my hard drive!  Anyway, I’m back for now…do a little dance, sing a little song.  I hope you lovely folks had a wonderful Mother’s day.  I certainly did.  I shot Posthuman today and then came home to a lovely meal and enjoyed my Mother’s Day present:  season one of Spartacus!  I love me some raunchy violent Romans!
p.s.  I haven’t yet chosen the winner of the SuperHero contest because of all this craziness and shooting.  But it’s on my to-do for the next two days.  Sorry!
True Story:
So remember Baby Girl’s issues with the ‘r’ in “fork?”
Well, now the ‘f’ has become a ‘c.’
If you’re following, her “fork”  now sound like *spelled phonetically* “k-o-k.”
Endless laughter at the dinner table!

Mama’s Gonna Go Lose Her Breakfast

 Jacket – F21
Shirt – Lucca Couture
Jeans – Gap
Shoes – Threadsence
Sunnies – Lace Affair

Okay last summer I did a rant about unsightly pantie lies, and this year it seems the rants are starting early because I have a grievance to air with you ladies.  Don’t leave the house in a sheer dress without a slip.  I have no need, or any desire, to see the exact pattern on the g-string you decided to wear with you chiffon white summer dress.  Check yourself in a mirror under proper light, please!  Don’t assume that two layers of sheer chiffon equal one non-see through layer of another material because they don’t!

I don’t care what lovely shape you may be in, Mama’s gonna go loose her breakfast over that!

Thank you, rant done.  We now return to our regularly scheduled program…how’s your week?

Happy Shoes

Top – Ruche
Skirt & Necklace – F21
Shoes – Winners

Guess what?  I wore this to a shoot. *sneak peek of that here*   Yup, this is the kind of thing you’ll see me wearing when I’m taking your picture.  Last year, I nabbed these fun sandals from the clearance section of Winners, and have been loving them ever since.  We met, we wooed, and now we’re happily committed to one another.  I wear them often and treat them well, and they never give my aches or blisters.  It’s a happy relationship all around.
True Story:
Baby girl has learned to say, “Fork.”
Though when she says it, it sounds dangerously like something else…

Don’t Suffer Fashion

Dress – Ruche
Necklace – c/o Mama’s Nests Designs
Belt – F21
Shoes – Payless
Earrings – somewhere on Etsy

I was on set all day yesterday for a commercial shoot *details will be on my acting blog* , so this isn’t the outfit I wore…it’s actually from a couple of days ago.  I love how soft and delicate and gentle this dress is, if a dress can be described as gentle.  Free flowing ruffles, chiffon, and comfort are key things in fashion for me.  Whether it’s a great leather jacket, or a frilly dress they have to be comfortable.  I don’t suffer for fashion, I live in it, and life is sometimes challenging enough without the added discomfort of a pinching outfit or painful shoes.
