Sun Flare Lenses Over My Eyes

Shirt – F21; Vest – AE; Dress – Ruche; Belt – came with another dress; Tights – Hue; Boots – Feet First.

The days are growing shorter and shorter and the world seems a little surreal to me, like I’m spending my days in a sun flare haze meandering through the hours until….until what?  That’s the question.  It feels like I’m waiting, but I don’t know what I’m waiting for.  Maybe I’m waiting for the snow to come so it actually feels like winter and the freezing temperatures are justified their existence.  Maybe I’m waiting for December 21st so that the days can start getting longer once more. Maybe I’m just waiting for the holidays to be over and all that stress and activity to subside.  Maybe I’m just, “Waiting for Godot.”

Who knows.

For now I’ll have a cup of tea and read.

What are you waiting for?

Necessity Is The Mother Of Invention

Sweater – Gap; Dress – H&M; Belt – F21; Tights – Hue; Boots – Threadsence; Leg Warmers – Legs Beautiful.

I don’t have snow boots.  I should, I live in Canada after all where the snow falls and the temperature drops below what I consider human.  But I don’t.  And it’s not because I’m too cool for them or anything.  It’s because two winters ago mine died.  Then last winter I was pregnant and didn’t want to spend a ton of money when I wasn’t sure what my feet were doing *feet can change size during pregnancy* This winter…well let’s just say there’s been some belt tightening ’round these here parts.

So I made a thrown together, DIY pair.  What are snow boots?  Waterproof boots with a warm lining.  So I  took a  loose pair of boots that’s waterproof, put on warm legwarmers and shoved it all into said boots.  And voila!  Snow boots!  These will do until looser pants reign supreme.

p.s.  I’m writing over here today about the trials and tribulations of blog/website design.

Accentuate The Positive

Cardi – Aritzia; Top – F21; Jeans – Gap; Boots – Feet First.

Can I just say how much I love the fact that Baby always has to get my attention when taking outfits shots?  She either cries *which I’m not crazy about*  or she giggles and makes funny face *which I love a whole lot more*  My absolute favorite is when she shoves her nose up against the glass.   That gets me every time.  I crack up laughing and make just as many silly faces *as evidenced above*

I got together with some friends last night to play board games and have dessert.   It was so much fun.  I think that hanging out with friends and having a blast playing board games has to be one of my favorite activities.  It’s so great to connect with people like that.  And I always feel so positive about things when it’s all done *even though I didn’t win*

Catch yourself thinking a negative thought today and consciously change it into a positive thought.  Repeat that thought to yourself at least three times.

Are My Politics Showing?

Vest – AE; Top & Necklace – F21; Pants – swapped; Pants – Feet First; Bag – Matt by Matt&Nat.

I don’t usually get political here on the blog, but I have to voice my dismay at our Mayor elect.  He is tearing our city apart at the seams, but I digress.  The issue I specifically want to address is the child care subsidy that he’s hoping to get rid off.  Families already struggle with mounting child care costs and to slash even more funding is unfathomable to me.  These are the future citizens, leaders, thinkers, and business people of our country and you want to cut how well we *as a community* raise them?  So not only will we raise dumb people to lead our country, but we’ll also make sure that the current citizens are stressed and overworked *or kept below the poverty line* by the lack of affordable child care.  Go mayor! *sarcasm fully intended*

True Story:
Yay!  My package from Ruche finally came!  I’m really hatin’ on Canada Post.  These two shipments were unreasonably delayed and took twice as long as any other shipment – from anywhere, even Hong Kong.  Seriously, what up Canada Post?  You made me so sad thinking I would have to stop shopping online *read “at Ruche”*

Lots Of Things Start Early…Like My Day

Cardi – Costa Blanca; Top – Urbanog.com; Jeans – Gap; Boots – Feet First.

Happy Monday beautiful people!  I’m working off of several cups of tea since Baby is still keeping us up at all hours of the night.  I really don’t know what’s up.  Maybe teething, maybe not.  I really can’t tell.  I am, however, proud to say that we’ve made the transition to one nap a day very easily and very smoothly.

And yet again, I didn’t want to wash my hair so I stuck it up in this french braid thing-y.  It’s what I do.  What do you do when you don’t want to wash/do your hair?  Leave a comments and share.  Thanks!

I knew I would have a fashionista on my hands…I just didn’t think it would start this early!

Outside My Sartorial Comfort Zone

Dress – Ruche (here) ; Belt – F21; Shoes – Payless

Thanks so much to all my new friends from Rose a la Mode!  It’s so great to have you visit me here in my little corner of the internet. And while we’re doing little shout outs, thanks to Mommy Connections for having me as their featured guest blogger!  Check out that article here.

How do you like the dress?  It’s really quite outside my comfort zone. It’s so bright and features yellow very prominently.  I’m not one for much of either, so I felt a little wary of putting on this dress.  But when I saw it online I was in love, so I decided to chance it.  The only thing that was a surprise is that online it looked like it was white, but in reality it’s a very warm cream.  I was a little disappointed by that since I wanted stark white, but it’s so pretty I wasn’t going to kick up a fuss about that.

I wore it on air, and I have to say I really liked how it looked on camera.  It’s definitely going to be a repeat offender at the studio!  Plus, I got several really nice spontaneous compliments and well, you know I’m a sucker for flattery.

I’d love to hear about you though.   How have you stepped out of your sartorial comfort zone?  How did you fare?

Gambling On Contradictions

Shirt – Jacob; Skirt & Belt – H&M; Shoes – Payless.

Sorry about no Random Sunday post. I was veeeeerrry tired, headach-ey, and time of the month-ey.  So I crashed. Hey, no one’s perfect right?

I love that I managed to nab this skirt for only $10!  Granted I was 8 months pregnant at the time.  And no I didn’t fit in it then, I took a gamble that I would return to my pre-pregnancy size.  I figured that for $10 I could take the risk.  But I’m so glad that it paid off.  I love the pleats and a-line of this skirt, but I also really like how the retro nature of it is balanced by the abstract, almost bleeding, pattern.  It makes the whole piece more modern I think.  Pieces that have this contradictory nature appeal because they are always really interesting and fresh.

Rain Dance Dress

Dress – Ruche; Belt – AE; Shoes – Payless.

It seems that whenever I decide to wear a striped dress it rains.  I wonder what kind of weird karma that is?  Maybe it’s my rain dance dress?  Anyway, I love it.   It’s soooo twirly!  And I’m going to have fun dressing it up and down all Fall and Winter long *hey, outfits are the only thing to look forward to in winter…I hate the cold!*  The dress is a little big for me, but it looks okay with a belt tied round it, and it’ll be fined layered with cardis.  Better a little loose than too tight I say!

Happy Labour Day Friday!  *we spell it with ‘our’ here in Canada*

I’m Wearing Lulus. What?

Top – H&M; Tank – Smart Set; Pants – Lululemon; Flip Flops – Abercrombie&Fitch.

Yesterday I was so pooped and lazy that yes, I wore the Lulus I rant and raved against.  It’s not that I’m against them, I’m not. They’re very comfy pants.  It’s just that I’m against them becoming one’s daily uniform – yoga teachers excepted.  But I will be the first to admit that we all have our Lulu days/Sweat pant days. And yesterday was mine.

But today is a different story!  I’ll show you that later.

Looking Forward To

Hat – Zellers; Shirt – Jacob; Dress – thrifted; Undertunic – Ruche; Shoes – Payless.

We’re enjoying the last days of summer here.  Who knows how long they’ll stick around.  It could be a week or another few months.   We’ll see.  I love summer.  I really do.  And I’m going to be very sad to see it go.  But I know that it must go at some point, so I’m trying to reconcile myself to that by thinking about the good things ahead.  I’m really looking forward to chunky knit sweaters, and warm scarves.  I’m also looking forward to a potty trained baby.  That happens at 15 months right?

*crickets*

3 years?!?!

*sigh*
