When you set up your tripod and take off your jacket to take outfit pictures with your baby in the stroller next to you enough times, eventually she wants to get in on the action. So as I set up my tripod, and took my place, she insisted on taking her hood off and posing right next to me for the camera. Then she ran back and forth to double check on the photos. You know, to make sure we had the shot. I’m telling you, it’s getting real hard to not show her face here when she stands right beside me smiling into the lens.
I love it when my mom cleans out her closet. She comes down with garbage bags full of great clothes. It’s like a fun shopping spree for free! The best kind, of course. Though we may not be the same size, I always find some fun tops, sweaters, and even the occasional dress. *like the one above*
That’s something to consider when swapping, you don’t have to be the same size. My mom is shorter and she’s got a little more junk in the trunk. So I don’t usually get pants because it’s hard to lengthen pants and get the perfect fit, but because she likes her clothes more fitted, and I like a lot of things looser and more flowy I still end up with a great haul. Something to think about when debating a clothes swap with your friends too – you don’t all have to be the same size.
Now the issue is how to get a bigger closet.
Dress – Trinity // Sweater – Darling via Emerging Thoughts // Scarf – Kensie // Tights – Hansel from Basel // Boots – Walmart Standing out from the crowd is difficult. How do you stand out from a crowd? Other than running naked down the street flailing your arms, of course. Don’t try that by the way, the results are never good. In theory it’s all about being yourself, but in a crowd of people trying to stand out I don’t know if anyone can ever really do it. With everyone trying to feel special in our society by seeking that recognition of being the “most” at something, I wonder if it’s ever really possible to achieve it. I don’t know. Maybe I’m in the crowd so I just can’t see the way, or maybe I’m off to the side standing apart but not out, that I just don’t get it. But I don’t.
I can’t help but wonder about that line from Hope Floats, “I’m just not special, and that’s okay.” Maybe not everyone is meant to be special, and maybe that’s okay.
Maybe just being happy is enough.
Ugh, ever have those days where you could just get your pretentious brain to be quite?

It just doesn’t get any better than clothes that are soft, fluffy and warm. Especially when that nagging head cold won’t go away and you just want to wrap yourself in a perpetual blanket. I wish there was a way to wear a nice hot steaming bath around all day. But I think that would be not only cumbersome, wet, and messy, but would also violate most, if not all, anti-obscenity laws.
I could not be happier with this red dress from eShakti. Since having received it back in September and featuring it then, it has just grown and grown in my eyes. I think I love the LRD more than I love the LBD. There’s something so coy about a simply cut dress in such a bold color. It’s as if you’re outwardly blending in, but inwardly daring people not to look at you. The subtly subversive side.
I also couldn’t resist featuring my sister in her kick ass animal print dress. I would so totally steal that.
This week is the last link up for Dressember – so show me your best!!!

When I’m at my mom’s house I just want to sit and chill in comfy sweaters and under cozy blankets. So that’s what I did, when I wasn’t running around after a little toddler obsessed with the piano. I kind of miss the days when I was the kid when I came home, and just had the chance to laze and lounge. That’s no longer the case as I have my own little one, though it is fun to see her oooh and aaah at the big Christmas tree.
