Goodbye Mr. Weekend

 Jeans & Tee- Gap  //  Sweater – Anthropologie  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Scarf – Le Chateau  //  Necklace – Ruche.

This weekend.  Huh?  There was a weekend?  Funny, I didn’t realize.  I kind of wish someone had told me it was the weekend.  Sometimes I don’t get the memo and then I forget to take part in the shared group activity.
And I end up wearing my Halloween costume to the Christmas Party.

True Story:
Baby Girl and Andrew were on the bus during rush hour.
In a loud voice Baby Girl went, “Daddy!  Daddy!  Daddy!”  “Yes?” he answered.
On the crowded bus, and in an equally loud and enthusiastic voice she declared, ” I farted!”

I finally got my hair cut.  And I hate it.  I asked for one thing and got a totally different thing.  It looks fine when it’s all curled and such, but when it’s straight it’s exactly what I didn’t want.  Yes, I shed some tears.  No, I’m not going back to get it fixed because I would need to lose about five inches to get what I want, and I’m not willing to do that.
Now, I realize that there are bigger things in the world like people dying, children starving,  and I’m in no way saying that my terrible haircut holds a candle to that. I have perspective.  All I’m saying is   I’m upset that I asked for one thing, and instead have what she thought I should have.  And it sucks.  It really sucks.
I feel like that contestant on America’s Next Top Model.  You know the one I’m talking about.
This whole post was brought to you by one pouting woman who assumes that you care about my hair, which you probably don’t, and that’s okay.

New Baby!

Dress – Dear Creatures Avila Dress
Sweater *sold out* & ShoesModcloth
Brooch – Beau and Bauble
I’m excited about my new baby!  The blue one with the basket in the pictures here.  Why?  What did you think I was talking about? My new blue baby girl is wonderful.  I’m calling her Lolita, because she’s a young, gorgeous ingenue with a very coquettish side to her.  So welcome to the family Lolita.
Since arriving, I’ve put her straight to work.  She’s been up, down, east, and west across this fair city and I know she and I will be doing it many times more.   It’s just me and her with the wind at our backs.
True Story:
Baby Girl was counting the muffin holes on the tray.
She counted, “One, two, three, four…”  then decided held up a finger in the air and announced “Nine!”
There were six.
Still, not bad for a 2 year old.

The Start of The B.C. Madness

I flew from Toronto to Vancouver, and then got on a tin little propeller plane to take me into rural B.C.  Now, I’ve traveled a lot, but always on big huge jumbo jets, and this tiny little thing made me wonder if I had to wear a parachute and sit in a cargo plane. But no.  It was quite luxurious inside, just small.

The view from the plane as I came in.

Sitting on the deck just after arriving was super.  Just relaxing with all the mountains around me.

The food has been just so delicious and wonderfully spiced.  The chef is pictured here and not only does he make great food, but he also provides adult beverages to accompany it, music to match, and jokes for a good belly laugh.

I Swear I’m Not Naked!

Dress – Threadsence
Cardi – Yumi
Shoes – Payless
Sunnies – Lace Affair
Bracelet/Necklace – c/o TwillyPop
Sometimes you don’t really notice what you look like until you see a picture.  Now, I would like to think that had I had a full length mirror, I would’ve noticed that I look totally naked underneath this dress.  I assure you, I was not!  I had on a nude colored bra, and skin tight, nude booty shorts.  But despite my covering up underneath, the sheerness and the silhouette created do indeed project that image and therefore I find it indecent.  A half slip is being purchased as we speak.
However a misfortune this incident was, I have to share how much I’m adoring this necklace.   It’s gorgeous! And I think it walks the line of simple and chic while still being a stand out item.  What’s great about it is that it’s so flexible you can do whatever you like with it.  I often get a rebel-without-a-cause satisfaction out of wearing things the way they’re not ‘supposed’ to be worn.  That, coupled with the fact that it was so humid I couldn’t bear to have anything on my neck for more than 15 minutes, resulted in the move of this piece to my wrist and my wearing it as a bracelet for the rest of the day.  It’s gorgeous, and not only did I get compliments on the dress, I got more than a few complimentary looks at my wrist.
True Story:
Baby spilled something.
She went around to the other side of the bed to get a kleenex to wipe it up.
On the way back, she was distracted by something Andrew said to her.
Once done, she looked back in the direction she had been originally going and stood there.
She had totally forgotten her determined and resolute mission.  S
he stood there for several moments clearly trying hard to recall what it was she had been so focused on.  Then she dropped the Kleenex, did a 180 and walked away.
Her mission aborted.

Seeing A Lot Of Blue

Cardi – Old Navy
Tee – Gap
Belt & Socks – F21
Skirt – Uncle Phuncle c/o Emerging Thoughts
Boots – Feet First
I wore this a few days ago, but forgot to post it.  Then I had so many other things that it got shuffled around. But finally, eventually, if only several days late here it is.  Love this skirt – simple, elegant yet completely feminine!   I’m a huge fan of a simple gray and blue palette.  There’s something soothing, and so put together about it.  I’m a huge fan of blue in general however.  I think it has moved up the list over pink and purple to become my new favorite color.  A clear, bright, bold blue is so joyous to me, so clean and so chic.  Yup, you’re definitely going to be seeing blue here for a while to come.

Heart On My – Bee!

Cardi – Yumi
Scarf – street stand
Dress – Bloom
Belt – F21
Shoes – Payless

So I was totally going to call this post “Heart On My Sleeve” in reference to the hearts on my cardigan, and I was going to talk about something sweet, but here’s a better story:

See that last picture where I’m looking all profound and philosophical?  Yeah, well just as the timer was going off on my camera I happened to hear a noise and noticed a bee flying dangerously close to me.  So the picture was totally forgotten while I focused in curiosity, indecision, and growing terror as the bee started a slow trajectory towards me.

Soon afterwards, I gave a high-pitched yelp, grabbed my camera and ran inside the house.  I’m just thankful I had the wherewithal to remember the camera!  Though in hindsight, I doubt the camera was a panicked as I was.

Give me zombies and I’ve got sword and gun expertise, but don’t you dare face me with a bee.

*Hangs head in shame*

Sitting in the backyard, the golden setting sun warm on my shoulder and my legs tucked up underneath me,  I sip my cold, crisp white wine.  My husband is mowing the lawn while my baby girl squeals as she chases the dog who’s running for his dear life in fear of sticky fingers clutching his ears. Right now, right here life is good.

p.s. have you entered the giveaway?  There’s still two days left!
p.p.s.  I’m talking photoshoots today on Mom 2 MemphisAnd Ruby.  Check it out.

She’s Funny That One!

Earrings – somewhere in Europe
Necklace & Bangles – F21
Sweater & Sunnies – thrifted
Top – H&M
Skirt – Ruche
Boots – Threadsence
It’s still cold outside, and the sun rarely makes an appearance, but I’m certainly energetic and productive and alive lately.  Not only have all my sites been spruced up or re-designed *check out the acting and the photo sites* but I’ve been running from audition, to callback, to wardrobe fitting, to shoot for weeks now.  It’s a wonderful feeling to be so busy and in demand you have to start getting people to re-schedule in order to accommodate a meeting. I need to share this joy with you!
On top of that I’ve been enjoying the company of my baby girl to no end.  She’s funny that one!  I thought I would really miss the baby stage, and though I do miss it, I love this stage much, much more.  The one where she’s company, has thoughts to share, and loves to play jokes on us is so entertaining.  It’s like hanging out with a friend now, albeit a poopy and demanding one.
True Story:
Walking to playgroup one day we stop and see a snail in the middle of the sidewalk.
She bends down and pets it like she pets Drake the Dog.
When it’s time to go, she waves goodbye to the snail and continues walking.
Then five steps later, she turns back to the snail and waves again.
She does this every five steps until the snail is nothing but a tiny speck.
Though he doesn’t have good ears or eyesight, I’m pretty sure he felt a lot of love sent his way that day.

Rebel Head-to-Toe

Cardi – Banana Republic

Skirt & Necklace – Ruche
Tights – gift from my Babcia
Boots – Feet First

I have a few pet peeves.  One being the inappropriate use of the colon and the semi-colon.  They’re not just one half of an emoticon people! But I also have this personal clothing pet peeve.  I won’t wear one label, or store, head to toe.  I can’t do it.  Something inside me rebels at the very notion. Even if the items are from different labels, but are from the same store, I can’t wear them together in one outfit.   Maybe it’s a silly notion of non-conformity and by wearing one store/label head to toe I’m somehow relinquishing my creativity.  I really don’t know why that is, but it is.  Do you have any weird quirks like that?
