Soy and Dairy Free Protein Bars

I promised you a while ago that I would show you the protein bars I made and it got soooo busy that I totally forgot – until today.  So here’s how my bars turned out.  They’re made with nuts, seeds, varies puffs, Greens+ and a protein powder that has no soy or whey in it.  The ones I made aren’t gluten free *they have raw oats* but they could easily be made that way.   I make them from an old recipe I came up with – but usually I vary each batch up depending on what I have in the house and what I fancy at the time.  They’re chewy, sweet and delicious!  And best of all they give me the protein and nutrient boost I need!

Busy, Busy Girl

My Ruche booties!

This is what the table in front of me looks like.  Good thing you guys can’t see it on air!

Cardi &Boots – Ruche; Shirt – Walmart; Shorts – AE; Ring – Spotted Moth.
*pardon the pics.  All I had was my old point and shoot and it was dark*

Monday was day one on the set of another music video that I did (you can read about that here).  And it was another hot and humid day.  To top it all off, I had to be up bright and early, and be prepared to go right from the music video set to Movieola to host a live on-air evening shift.  So, I decided to go for cute but comfortable.  Shorts and a sweet cardigan *it’s cold under the AC in the studio* and the Ruche booties are so wonderfully comfy.  They’re slowly becoming a go-to item for set days.

Tidbit:  I liked these boots so much I recommended them to my mom and she ordered a pair!

Forgive Me?

Hey, I know I haven’t posted in a while, and that’s because I’ve been crazy busy.  I’m so excited to tell you all about it!  And to post all the outfit shots.  Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait just a little bit longer.  But trust me, it’s going to be soooo worth it!

I’m posting this from another computer not my home one, so I don’t have a chance to edit my photos and post them.  Forgive me right??

But in the meantime, I seriously need you to check out the web series I’m doing.  It’s awesome!  Check out the mini-episode “TheVoice”  to learn a little more about my character – Dorothy Ascher.  And then check out the third episode called “The Past” to see a brief cameo by me before Dorothy makes her grand debut!

Tell me what you think!

Yet Another Day

Shirt – Old Navy; Belt – Spotted Moth; Jeans – Guess; Shoes – thrifted.

Today is another rainy day with Baby teething and cranky, and Mama really tired.  So again, I didn’t get dressed.  To be honest, I didn’t even have a chance to shower yet.  So here’s another outfit from a couple of days ago.

And don’t you love the awkward pose?  I’m just full of awkward!

Oh and I made those bars I mentioned yesterday.  I’ll show you probably later tonight or tomorrow.

Brightly Colored Shorts

Fedora – Cuba; Sunglasses – F21; Shirt – AE; Belt – AE; Shorts – Ruche; Loafers – AE.

It’s rainy and because of a lot of things I haven’t gotten dressed – just jeans and a clean shirt *at least I think it’s clean*  But!  It was beautiful and sunny a few days ago and I wore this little number, but I hadn’t had a chance to post it.  So here it is folks!  I absolutely adore the ruffles on the shorts and I have to say that it’s my first foray into colored shorts.  Only about two years ago did I start wearing shorts, and they were always black, but now not only am I wearing shorts, but they’re also brightly colored!  I love how fashion evolves with you.

On another note, I’ve been looking for a dairy free, soy free protein bar because I often need snacks and food on the go and I can’t really find one.  People have suggested things like Larabars, but to be frank, I don’t like them.  So I’ve concocted my own little recipe (it’s actually a twist on a recipe I came up with years ago) and I’m going to make them tomorrow night once I get all the ingredients.   I’ll be sure to post them and show you all how they turn out.  And most importantly, tell you how they taste.

Simple and Effortless

Shirt – Smart Set; Jeans – Mavi; Shoes – AE.

You know I usually like to dress a little more interesting.  I like patterns and vintage and dresses and skirts.  But! I had a general audition yesterday.  I was auditioning not for a specific role but more to showcase what I can do; so, in that vein I wanted to look as neutral and versatile as possible.  Hence, the simplest outfit you can get – dark jeans and a t-shirt.  I like this simple, and effortless look, but for my own personal style I would add a fun scarf, or cute cardigan, or make the shirt a band shirt.  However, if you’re ever in a rush just throw these pieces together and, if you can, add some simple silver jewelry and you’ll look casual chic.

And now to our regularly scheduled wacky outfits…

So Cute It Will Make You Sick

Guess who’s just the cutest thing ever???

Victoria Day!

Cardi – H&M; Shirt – Esprit; Belt – Hadley Pollet; Jeans – Gap; Shoes – Etienne Aigner; Socks – Calvin Klein.
I wore this yesterday to the birthday party yesterday. It’s been very weird weather: very humid, rainy and alternating between hot and cold.
Makes it really hard to style an outfit.
I gave Drake the Dog a haircut, but since I didn’t get a chance to finish it he looks a little silly.  But still really cute.

Random Sundays: Garden Party!

Chives and Bok Choy.

Tomatoes!

Parsley.

?????

So I promised to show you my garden last week and have been very negligent in fulfilling my promise.  But finally here it is!  I’m so excited!  It’s the first time I’m attempting to grow anything.  If I can manage it, it’ll be the first plants that I have manged not to kill.  I’m kind of a black thumb.  No, seriously.

On another fun note, we got Baby a little wading pool and so far the verdict is still out on whether she actually likes it.  I’m sure once it gets sweltering hot she’ll love it!

Today was one of her boyfriend’s birthday parties.  And let me tell you it was pretty cool to see the kids playing alongside one another.  They don’t really plat with each other yet; they kind of crawl over and around one another right now, but it’s still pretty cute.

Fun note, I met one lady who reads my blog *Hi Stephanie! You looked great,  by the way* and it made me all embarrassed.  It’s weird to meet someone who has read about me, but that I haven’t met in real life.  Cool, but weird.  It made me feel all bashful…like my underwear was showing *which you never know, it might have been*

One Cute Handful

Seriously, Baby’s into everything!  My Mama and Babcia said to me that she’s not going to be a quiet, calm child sitting in the corner with her book or crayons, she’s going to be active and mischievous.
And a handful.
They’re right.
*sigh*

Out to cause trouble with the recycling, or Drake the Dog’s food.

That used to be my bookmark….no more.
