Seen And Not Heard

Some days I’m poetic, whereas other days, like today, I’m just downright taciturn.  The ideas in my head refuse to leave and be shared with the universe.  My words and sentences have decided to firmly plant roots inside my brain and never see the light of day.  It’s a day that’s meant to be silently enjoyed and reflected upon, but never discussed.

Occupy Winter

There’s new growth and sunshine, and though my heart does not rise with it yet, my brain knows it’s only a matter of time before the warmth and light of the sun push aside the dark and dreary nooks of the spirit left by the grey of Winter, and take up permanent residence.  Until such time, the softness of loose cotton, raw silks, and soft knits will keep me company and blur the hard lines.

SuperHero Powers

If you all saw Friday’s Vlog post, you know I was wearing cords and it was established that I’m “country bumpkin” because of it. I don’t think I helped the issue by pairing it with plaid.  Oh well.  You can see that I’m super horrified about this *sarcasm fully intended*   Actually, while I was wearing this vest, I had two men tell me within three hours that they really liked my ‘cape.’  I love that they called it a cape.  Made me feel like a superhero.  Some kind of fashionable Wonder Woman?

Leaping over tall boots in a single bound, and putting together outfits at the speed of a bullet.  Yup, I’ll take that superpower.  Or if we go with the previous comment, I’m a Country Bumpkin superhero!  Yup, maybe I’ll even bump into Daryl from The Walking Dead and we’ll go hunt zombies!  Okay, now I’m really going over the top.

But really, I think it’s cool how different clothes have such different affects on people.  I am continually fascinated by the various reactions to some of the things I wear.  Whether good, bad, or in between, I love to hear the affects, ’cause it’s all so personal and subjective.

And So With The Winter Goes My Brain

Top -Lush  //  Tank – Gap  //  Cords – Le Chateau  //  Shoes – Threadsence  //  Necklace – Ruche  //  Coat – Staring At Stars
It’s starting to get to the point of the year where I don’t freeze off any appendages while taking outfits shots.  You know what that means – Spring is around the corner!  But along with the winter blues, my memory seems to be going as well.  I’ve gotten to the point where I forget the shops at which I purchase things.  For example, I can not for the life of me remember where I got this top, so I have to list the tag as reference instead.
See I make a mental note, and a physical note, of the items I receive from sponsors, but when I get something myself eventually that knowledge flies out the window.  I know it’s over a year old, so it’s unlikely that it’s still in stock.  So I apologize for the lack of a dependable mind.
p.s.  do you like the bright socks?  Yeah, I didn’t even think they would show, but they did.  See, that just goes to show that I don’t think everything through.

Not Just For Hookers

As much as it’s a new thing for me, it feels like leopard print and I are old friends.  I used to be a lady who thought she would never under any circumstance *unless playing a hooker* wear leopard print.  But over the last year it’s become this fun bold thing that I really enjoy weaving in with all the other things in my closet.  Yes, that’s right.  I’ve realized that leopard print is fun, bold, and not at all hooker like, because let’s face it, I’m so very, very far from that.
What’s worse is that I’ve paired leopard print with faux fur, so in the words of George Takei, “Oh myyy!”

p.s. This post is not to imply in any sort of way that anyone wearing leopard is a Lady of the Night.

Not A Trend

Top – Freeway via Ruche  //  Pants – Gap  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Sunnies & Earrings – F21
Can I just say a little something?  I love fashion, but maybe I’m not understanding something.  How is Black and White the trend for Spring?  It’s not a trend.  It’s a color combo.  Moreover, it’s a classic color combo dating back goodness knows how long.  It’s the simplest color combo.  This is not a trend for Spring, this is a classic and age old color combo that should have no one surprised.  I think it was pretty much the first thing I learned about fashion – that black and white go well together.  I’m somewhat dismayed that the fashion world has no more idea than to go back and call B&W a new trend for Spring.  I think we can be more creative than that.

Dress like everyone’s looking.

It’s the first lovely day of Spring so of course Baby Girl and I go to the playground for an extended stay.  It’s a lot of fun, and even though the slides and the postman were the only ones to see me, I still needed to dress up and feel great.  ‘Cause that’s what it’s really all about.
p.s. So I just got this necklace, and I’ve already lost the matching earrings.  Fail.  Oh and I’m having a 50% off sale on all ad space!  Use the code “SPRING”  Sale lasts until April 15th.  Everyone who purchases an ad with this code until April 15th is automatically entered into a random draw to win one month of “SuperCool” ad space.

Through The Wringer

That’s where I’ve been this weekend.  In an artistic and emotional way that’s where I’ve been.  It’s been an exhausting lat three days and I have been challenged pushed and amused.  I like to think that I’ve come out the other end a fuller, and more complex artist and actor.  But man, could I use some chocolate!  Lindt, would you like to sponsor me?
