Statement jeans, I looooove them. Something about taking the basic staple and going buck wild on it. So that’s what I did. I got a pair of flared jeans from F21 – they had to be flares for what I was planning. Then I got my Mama to embroider classic Kaszubian designs on them. That’s an ethnic group in Western Poland that part of our Family is from. They have a classic style and form to their embroidery and my Mama was kind enough to do it for me. I can crochet and knit, and trust me, embroidery is next on my list, but I’m not there yet.
But here’s the miraculous mishap, I cut the jeans foolishly. I wore them and had my husband measure them and tried them on with boots and everything. But somewhere along the line I must have made a terrible mistake, because when I tried them on after the embroidery was done they were too short! Eeek! I panicked. I totally cried and panicked because not only did I love them, but my mom had done so much work on them.
Then I rallied. And Andrew came up with the idea of adding a hem. Manic fabric warehouse shopping later, and I had a fun white eyelet hem to add. It goes with the whole folk theme so I am actually kind of pleased about the mishap. Plus, if it ever gets ruined, I can just replace it with some other fun hem. Phew!
