The unexpected comes from nowhere – it’s why it’s called unexpected. Otherwise we would see it coming, right? It’s still a shock. Imagine kissing someone for the last time, and then looking back and remembering that moment. Did you have a hint it was the last time? Would you have acted differently?

I’ve had the pleasure of some lovely unexpected things happening. A surprise trip. And some surprise gigs. Such joyful surprises. So unexpected. But because I am the way I am, I think to those moments that were lasts and I didn’t realize it then. I wonder what I would’ve done differently. I wonder what I would have said. Last opportunities, friends, and lovers; how would you act differently if you could?
