Dress 80: Do You Like Getting Hippy?

Jacket – Old Navy; Scarf – thrifted; Dress – H&M; Boots – Ruche

This dress is one that I must say is difficult to wear.  The ruched sides and the horizontal stripes make anyone look a little ‘hippy’.  It’s great if you’re very slim, have a boyish figure, and want to add some curves!  But for the rest of us, it can be somewhat of a confidence test.  It’s also quite a fancy dress – something you’d wear out to a bar with the girls, but adding the denim jacket and relaxed booties *I’m loving these so much!* really dressed it down enough to be worn during the day.

What did I do on Sunday?  Well, I’m glad you asked.  As I mentioned here, I shot an episode of Posthuman in Waterloo.  You can see some fun shots and read about everything here.

Thanks and see you all tomorrow!

I haven’t showered, I haven’t eaten…I’m pooped!

Shirt – swapped; Scarf – thrifted; Jacket – Spotted Moth; Jeans – Guess.

Baby’s tooth finally breach the surface, but last night was the climax and boy did she give us a run for our money.   I’m so tired, the most I had the energy for was a cup of tea and a protein shake.  And me not eating is a huge deal!

In terms of outfit, all I could manage was to actually be dressed *as opposed to in my pajamas* as we headed out the door for a walk.  I know it’s not very uninspired, but not everyday can be glorious.

However, I must say I love this jacket from Spotted Moth.  It’s faux-fur lining is so very warm and comforting especially on a day like today where you’re tired and it’s still quite chilly.  The only down side to the piece is that it has no closure at the front.  That’s an issues in the fall with the cold wind. But I’m just going to add two hooks or buttons to make the jacket stay closed.  And for 50% off, this really is a steal!

Our outdoor adventure took us in and around the pond in the park.

I love the mural on the side of the public building in the park.

Weeds or flowers?

One little, lone cloud in the sky.  Precious thing!

I love those trees.  Like giants in the playground.
Tomorrow I’m on set for the web series I’m working on.
I’ll be blogging about that over here!

Dress 79: Is My Nerdiness Showing?

Baby and I on our way back from hanging out with her boyfriends!
I’m loving this out of focus shot.
Jacket – Old Navy  ; Dress Ruche  ; Tights – Hue; Shoes – AE; Bag – F21  (patches sewn on by me)

Baby is an absolute pill ’cause she’s got a tooth coming in.  And since Husband has been working the past three days, and is working for the next two weeks straight, I get to be with her all by myself.  Oh the joys of being freelance! But at least we got to go out and hang out with her gal friend and her three boyfriends.  The four other Moms and I finally managed to co-ordinate our schedules to see each other.  And yes, there are three boys and one other girl in the group.  Baby used to have her pick of the boys, but the other young lass is maturing and starting to get in on the action!

I’m so pleased to say that the weather has improved today.  I’m not one to usually talk about the weather so much, but it has been absolutely horrendous here lately – severe thunderstorm warnings, wind warnings, cold, rain, etc.  Today at least it didn’t prevent us from venturing out.

As for the title of the post, well if you get it, you get it.
If you don’t, it’s probably better I don’t explain.
I’ll just look like more of a nerd.

Dress 72: Twirly-Whirly Photoshoots

My dress is twirly!

And juummpy!!

Jacket – Jacob; Cardi – Esprit; Dress – Spotted Moth; Tights – Hue; Shoes – AE

Guess what?  My dress is Twirly-Whirly!  It’s skippy!  And it’s jumpy!  *or more, I’m jumpy and skippy and twirly-whirly when I’m wearing it* Yay!

The sun came out today,  the weather didn’t rise to meet it, but still that’s something.  I had a lovely day today.  It started off with fresh coffee and a photoshoot with a very talented photographer.  He shot my new headshots.  I saw some of the rough ones – the ones that have not been color corrected or anything – and even they looked amazing!  *and I’m not usually one to say that shots of me look amazing….trust me I’m not*  I’m seriously excited to get the edited versions so that I can show you.

And all you Toronto actors/singers/musicians, email me and I’ll hook you up with this amazing guy!

I had a lovely, quiet lunch out by myself.  Good food and a book.  Mmmmm….doesn’t get any better.

On the way to tea with a fabulous female, I saw this festive balcony above a busy shopping street.  Just had to share it with you.

Don’t you just love the X-mas tree in April??

True Story: Husband asked to borrow my new Britney Spears – Femme Fatale.  This is why I love him. He’s such a femme fatale *wink, wink…love you honey*

Dress 68: Does This Annoy You?

Jacket – Jacob; Sweater – made by my Babcia; Dress – Ruche; Leggings – F21; Boots – Ruche; Bag – Matt by Matt&Nat.

I had a lovely morning to myself of editing photos, catching up on Criminal Minds and just plain old bumming around the house.  In the afternoon we went to Le Scandinave Spa.  It’s beautiful and relaxing place where you can enjoy a sauna, a steam room, outdoor heated pools and cool pools.  You basically sit around for hours in one place or another.

Now, it’s lovely. And Emily finds it very relaxing.  But I’m a very active individual.  I can’t sit still in one place for too long.  I get bored, antsy, fidgety, and then down-right annoying when I have nothing to do.  Needless to say, I kind of annoyed Emily.  Especially when she made me sit in the silent sauna and I got so fidgety that I unconciously started drumming on the boards with my fingers and she had to stop me.

So, though I enjoyed the experience as I’d never done anything like that before, I wouldn’t go back.  To me relaxing is a 10 mile hike, an hour massage, and a good meal.  Or a 10 mile run, followed by the other two.

It was time to head home.  I’ve enjoyed my time away, but I was just as happy to come home, and look at my little girl sleeping sweetly with her cute bum in the air.  I missed her.  I missed them all.

Dress 66: A Dress You Can Bike In

I’ve decided to grow out my bangs after all.  Don’t worry though, I’ll keep plenty of layers.

Close-up of the scarf and necklace I wore.
Jacket – Jacob; Scarf – Ruche; Dress – Ruche; Tights – Hue; Loafers – AE

Today I had an audition, and faced with the choice of either riding the TTC for 40 minutes or biking for 15, I chose the later.  But I still wanted to look cute.  So today’s outfit was put together because of the practicalities of biking.  I needed thick tights to protect my pasty legs from the cold and also make sure my derriere was completely covered should a gust of wind come along and blow my dress up.  Also, I needed flat comfy shoes…I just can not bike in heels.  If you can, I applaud you.

On a side note, the little owl necklace belonged to my mother.  When I was a teenager I asked her if I could take it, and it has been a favorite of mine ever since.  I’ve always liked owls, especially this one.

True Story:  When one does it, the other has to shove their dirty little mug in too!

Dress 64: Being Transported Back In Time And Space

Blazer – F21; Dress – from Barcelona, Spain; Leggings – F21; Boots – First

I was saving this dress for just the right time.  See, when I started this challenge, I said I would wear everything once and not repeat until it was all worn, and this dress is my absolute favorite, so I had to choose the right time to wear it since I could only wear it once. And I wore it to celebrate Husband’s birthday. *he’s turning thirty and having a mini-meltdown about it*

Here’s why it’s my favorite:  It’s got a great pattern, bright colors, an incredibly soft material, and a little ruffle detail that adds just a touch of the flirty and feminine.  But it transports me back to Spain each time I wear it.  I saw this dress in a store in Barcelona a few years ago.  I immediately fell in move and bought it.  It has gone with me to many Spanish beaches, dinners and pubs.  It has been with me through the creation of many wonderful memories.  So I love to wear it for a very nostalgic reason  and sentimental reason.  Do you have a piece like that?

By the way, I’d like to thank all my readers.  You’ve managed to hit 3 all time highs in the last week.  Next goal: 500 views per day. I appreciate your help in spreading the word about my humble blog!  Thanks so much!

Dress 58: How Do You Leave Your Sick Child?

Heading out to a shoot.

Dress – Bershka

Boots – Aldo
Jacket – ?; Shirt – Smart Set; Sunglasses – F21

Hey guys, I’ll have a Randomd Sundays post for you later on today.  But for now, I thought I’d post some pics of the dress I wore yesterday.  I wore it to go shoot a film in Hamilton. *you can read about that here*  I felt bad about going since Baby is sick and had a ridiculously high fever yesterday, but it’s not like I could cancel.  So it was a bittersweet day, since I love working, but I couldn’t bear to leave my sick Baby Girl at home. *On a side note, her fever broke in the wee small hours last night and she’s doing better.  Still sick, but better*

This dress was a purchase from Bershka in Spain.  I have to say I love that store.  It’s so affordable, but really fun and trendy.  Stradivarius, and Bershka were my favorite stores to shop at in Europe.  I went into everyone that I saw.  Husband got really sick of it, but he was a good sport and let me do my thing.  Thanks Honey!

Trash, stash, or save?  Save!!

P.S.  The shots were taken on the GO train from and sorry they’re not better, but I did the best I could under the circumstances.

Dress 51: St.Patty`s Day

Here’s a clean, crisp shot of the dress.  *notice the bad hair day*
Husband got some candid shots of me…I’m loving the awkward shots of me lately.

Jacket – F21; Sweater – clothing swap; Dress – Ruche; Leggings – F21; Boots – Feet First.

It was 13 degrees outside today!!!  Yay!  I wore a light jacket and didn’t freeze my behind off.  Spring has arrived.  I can’t wait until it gets even warmer.

Today’s dress is a fairly recent dress from Ruche and I absolutely love it.  However, I didn’t get to wear it around for too long as Baby decided to grace it with her spit up.  Oh well, at least I was pretty for part of my day.  Trash, stash, or save?  Save!  I love the aplique detail.  *I’m noticing that I’m not trashing a lot of dresses…I guess I just can’t bear to part with any of them*

And sorry, no green today for St. Patrick’s Day.  I love the Irish, but I hate wearing green.  But here’s to the Irish!  Cheers!

Dress 50: Mommy, Murder Victim, Wife…the many hats I wear.

Jacket – Jacob; Sweater – Esprit; Dress – Suzy Shier; Leggings – F21; Boots – Aldo

What I wore:  This dress was a cheapy purchase several years back and I’ve gotten so much wear out of it.  It came with me to many a class in University, and lots of outings. It’s my twist on the LBD because it’s just as versatile but has a little something because of the pattern and ruching down the front.  Best thing?  It’s a material that doesn’t wrinkle, so it’s perfect for travelling!

Trash, stash, or save?  Definitely save, no?

Today was a roller coaster of a ride – emotionally.  Husband and I bickered. *always fun* But who in a long-term relationship doesn’t have those days when your spouse is just not your favorite person at certain times throughout the day?  We’ve all been there.  We’ve all thought it.  Not all of us admit it to ourselves, or say it out loud.  Well, I for one am all about voicing what goes on.  Hence the blog, I think.  Enough about that.  It all works out in the end.

Then I had an audition in which I had to play a murder victim.  Fun.  Yeah, that was trying.

Auditions are a weird creation.  You walk in and great each other nicely, smile-smile, make small talk – just like in a job interview.  Then they say, “Okay, you’re a murder victim begging and crying not to die”  And go!  You  have to do that, be that, feel that.  Then you hear, “Thank you.”  And immediately you have to switch back to smile-smile mode.   Told you, weird.

I relaxed on the subway ride home by reading a book.
And the second I stepped through the door I had to jump into Mommy mode by putting away laundry, bathing baby, etc., etc..

See?  Roller coaster ride.

Ride over.
Now it’s me, chocolate, and some ‘Community.’
