I’ve been terribly lax lately.
I took a break last week. I needed one.
Everyone is obsessed with the new.
Here’s what a road trip with me looks like:
There’s lots of tunes. Lots and lots of themed music.
Coffee. It’s a must, and it’s pretty much my only vice…except for scotch. No sugar, no junk, nada.
And then there’s the requisite surprise that will occur. I will at some point, maybe more than once, randomly pull over on the side of the road.
Then we will traipse through whatever the terrain is, possibly trespass onto private property, towards that thing I saw. That thing I saw is some place interesting where I want to take some shots.
In this instance, it was a hay barn. Off to the shoulder the car went. And off we went through ditches, trees, and crops to this little barn. It’s where I took my leather halter top shots too.
Moral of the story? When you road trip with me, be prepared for anything.
And don’t forget the coffee.
*p.s. I love all the beach sand still stuck to my legs and arms!*
Languorous stretching.
Laziness.
Breathing deeply.
Smiling.
Soaking in the heat.
Let’s all do that today.
Let’s wallow in the glory that is the summer, and the beauty that is the heat of another’s body close to you.
On my bike that is. My bicycle is tuned up and on the road. I know, I know, some people continue riding all year ’round. I admire those people…..those crazy people. Me? I like to ride my bike when it’s warm – ride all around the city – but not when it’s cold. So there’s this moment in Spring that occurs when the days are reliably warm enough that me and my bike are traipsing about town getting errands done.
It’s also really cool to be able to do that first 30 km ride and be totally fine afterwards. Here’s to cycle season!
Sometimes a stroll through the park with my girl is the only downtime I get. Just this day I’ve been working at my desk with photos, and also setting up and trying out some new gear. It’s pretty much go-go-go the entire day, except for the 45 minutes it takes us to do our daily walk around the pond.
Then I can meander and do nothing more than avoid the goose poo on the ground. And hiss at them when I go by…hey, they start it. They always hiss at me, so I right back, “Hissss, I’m bigger than you!” I look super cool when I do it. Really. No really. Okay, maybe not.
P.S. Guess what? You’re reading one of the Top 50 Style Blogs according to Mom.Me right now. Getting awards is a wonderful thing. I feel honored and humbled. I love it! Thank you so very much.
I know black isn’t traditionally part of a summer palette, but it is part of mine especially in this lovely maxi form. There was a time when it was a bit of a joke how much black I wore *think New Yorker black, not Marilyn Manson black* and how little color there was in my wardrobe. People would feign amazement when I wore gray, exclaiming that I’m adding color to my wardrobe. These days, as you are aware, color graces my wardrobe in all it’s glory, but there is still a special place in my heart for that darkest of all shades.
