Dress – ModCloth  //  Shoes –  Locale  //  Purse – H&M  // Earrings – I forget *old*  // Tights – Hansel from Basel

Sometimes.  Occasionally.  Once in a while.  From time to time, I can class it up a bit.  You know pretend that I’ve got a touch of the lady in me.  I went to a film premiere and decided that this night I would do just that.  I also decided to do this because before the film a new trailer of another film I’m in that’s in post-production would be revealed.  And in this film I play one half of a swinging couple….so I thought I should at least be a lady in person for a bit…since on screen.  Well, let’s just say there was a moment I was certainly blushing.  Thank goodness it’s dark in the theatre!

What Rules?! : Mixed Metals

Sweater – Cotton Candy   // Skirt – Uncle Phuncle c/o Emerging Thoughts  //  Coat – UO  //  Tights – Hansel From Basel  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Leaf Necklace – I forget  //  Pearl necklace – Ruche  //  Purple Chain – bought in Spain  //  Right Hand Bracelet – F21  // Left Hand Bracelet – made by me

The link up was a bit of a failure.  I think that means you guys just want some inspiration.  Which is totally cool with me!  So I’m going to continue breaking fashion rules, and if you’d like to join me leave your link in the comments and I’ll be sure to check them out.  ‘Cause I love seeing what you do too.

Next week I’m breaking a rule from the 50’s that said you should never wear high heels with cropped pants.  Apparently the connotation was that you were more than a bit promiscuous.  So I’m breakin’ that rule next week before it gets too cold to do so.

Head Under Water

Romper -Hot&Delicious  //  Sandals – F21  //  Hair Bow – Ruche
Underneath I’m wearing my bathing suit, as these pictures were taken on the walk over to the public pool.  My friend Emily and I took Baby Girl swimming.  All three of us had a fun time splashing in the big pool and watching Baby Girl ‘swim’ on her belly.
But what made me laugh the most was the surprised look on my girl’s face when she stepped just a touch too far and went straight underwater.  That little mouth in a perfect ‘o’ with wide eyes  – just made me burst out laughing.
She, of course, was less than amused.  So Emily and I hid our giggles.

The Bike Weathered Winter Though I Did Not

Sweater – Kensie  //  Cardigan – Gap  //  Pants – Skies Are Blue  //  Shoes – ModCloth  //  Necklace – Ruche  //  Jacket – Old Navy
The first nice day of the bike season my baby was out of the shed and cruising around town.  It handled the winter well, and was more than ready for the Spring.  All the guy at the shop had to do was tightens a few gears and put air in the tires.  Me however?  Not so much.  I had to run around town like mad and ended up biking for a total of 3 hours.  And I live in a very hilly area.  The bike may have held up well, but my body did not.  Granted the hour and a half kung fu class certainly didn’t help.
I love Spring!

Lil S@*t

Sweater – hand me down  //  Belt – F21  //  Skirt – ModCloth  //  Boots – Feet First
It’s starting to be that time of the year.  The one where in the pictures it’s sunny and gorgeous, but the reality is that I rush outside, set up the photo, whip off my coat and pretend to feel just splendid for outfit photos while I shake and freeze.  All with the neighbors watching and heckling.

Yes heckling.
Can’t it be spring already?

True Story:
Drake the dog jumped up and stole a piece of toast left on the ottoman.
I immediately responded, by saying, “Oh you little S@*t!”
From the kitchen I hear a little Baby Girl voice say, “Lil s@*t!”
Guess I really need to watch my mouth.

Ride Your Wild Horses

Sweater – Gap
Top – hand me down
Hair Bow – Ruche
Tights & Earrings – F21
Shoes – Payless
Dress – Ruche *sold out*
Get it at Threadcase in Red and at ShopSosie in Black.
Every time I wear a horse print, so really this dress because it’s the only horse print I own thus far, my mind starts playing U2’s “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses.” It’s amazing how music, like scent, can just stay in your brain and spring to the forefront with just the right trigger.  It’s like a tangible road mark for memories and feelings.  Some music and some scents just take you to a different place and time… whether you want to go there or not.

True Story:
We’re all dressed for a walk and we turn to ask Baby if she wants to go.
*she usually loves to go*
She grabs a book, sits down in a corner, and shakes her head, “No.”
Then smiles a, “Nope, not happening” smile.
Got a mind of her own that one.

Colors, Oh My!

Sweater – hand me down
Belt & Tights – F21
Dress – Ruche
Shoes – Payless
Bag – Aldo
Earrings – c/o  This Enchanted Pixie

I received these amazing earrings from This Enchanted Pixie along with a necklace and planned an outfit around both pieces *you’ll see that soon*, but they’re just so amazing that I couldn’t resist sneaking them into this outfit first.  I’m so glad I did!  Not only did I receive two compliments on them, but they feel so great on that I just felt like I had a little something extra, you know?  Personally, I think that these yellow ones are just too cute for words, so I suggest you grab them and rock them!

Bright colors are so hot for winter.  They’re no longer reserved just for Spring and Summer, and I’m so thankful because, as you can tell, I can’t resist a bold splash of color in the middle of a grey and cold February. I think what I like most about it is that it’s unexpected.  Not many expect to see such bright colors especially in downtown Toronto in a business district.  I know I turned a few heads because of that, but hopefully I brought at least a smile to one.

True Story:
Baby pulled out a bag of baby carrots from the fridge, and methodically bit into each and every one.
Then handed each and every one to me.
She expects them to be soft – like when cooked – and had a puzzled expression on her face as to why they were hard and crunchy.

Sometimes

Headband – F21; Sweater – hand me down; Jeans – AE; Shoes – Payless; Socks – Hue.

Some days are slow.
Sometimes I just want big boyfriends jeans and nothing else.
Sometimes that’s all you really need.

Another Exciting Project

Top – UO; Skirt – c/o Emerging Thoughts; Leggings & Silver ring – F21; Boots – Feet First; Bicycle ring – Spotted Moth.

Over the weekend I shot a fabulous character called ‘Nadia Burkoff’ – sex therapist, life coach and beauty queen.  This is a hilarious character created by a dear friend of mine, and one of my newest exciting projects.  So far, I’ve shot the promotion shoot *you can see some pictures here* and done a brief interview about Nadia’s new book.  But as I’ve taken on the role of producer/director for this burgeoning series, I’ve got a lot more insanity and hilarity planned for the future.  In the meantime, I appreciate you checking out the video of the interview, as well some of the promo shots.  Thanks!

Do you think she’s trying to drink her milk through telekinesis?

Windy And Animated

Skirt – c/o Emerging Thoughts; Top – hand me down; Cardi – Tulle from Ruche; Hair Bow – Ruche; Belt – F21; Tights – Hue; Boots – Locale.

Have you guys checked out Emerging Thoughts? This store has some seriously cool stuff there like this Tapestry Coat that I’m totally drooling over, or the Reality Bites Dress!  I want that dress just because it reminds me of the seminal film of my youth, you know what I’m talking about all you Ethan Hawke fans.  And for all us Canadian shoppers, they have really affordable shipping.  Bonus!

When I got this Uncle Phuncle skirt in the mail I was so excited to wear it because it has so many wonderful elements working for it.  It’s a clean simple grey color *and you know, that’s my ‘black’* it has a cute little bow, but it’s not too big, and it has a bit of a pouf but again, just the right amount.  Actually, that’s the first two things people said about – that it’s classic and poufy but just the right amount.   I have to say that I’m a big fan. My suggestion?  Hop your butts over to Emerging Thoughts and get yourself some of their sweet stuff.

Oh and what do you think of the animation?  It’s the first time I’ve used it, and it won’t become a regular feature, but for some reason it felt appropriate for the two photos used.  It was just a crazy photo taking moment with the wild wind and Baby chatting away, some movement had to be involved in this post!

True Story:
Baby has just discovered that when she closes her eyes
and covers them with her hands she’s, “Gone! Gone!”
Don’t worry, she can come back.
She just takes her hands off her eyes.
