Random Sundays: Movie Shoot Missing

I was on the set of a movie yesterday and though I got tons of scratches, cuts, and bruises I had a brilliant time!  And I can’t wait until we shoot the feature next year.  It’s going to be amazing!!!  But I will say that for some reason I really missed Baby yesterday.  When I got home, I went to check on her and she was so cute all cuddled up in her crib and sleeping soundly.  I’m going to miss her so much when I go to NYC tomorrow!  But I know it’ll be good for me.  I need to get away and have a long break after more than a year.

Happy Sunday!

Do What You Want To Do

The beautiful roses in bloom in my backyard.

Baby is sleeping.  She’s been tired a lot lately – lots of activity, the heat and not sleeping well at night.  I’d love to go run right now, but alas it’s only 8am.  I feel that out of respect for my neighbor, who shares a wall with my house, I should wait until at least 9am.  The treadmill is in a part of the house that isn’t at all attached to them – it’s in the extension – but I’m sure some noise and vibration gets through.  So here I sit.   I want to run.  But I can’t.  I should probably go shower and get dressed.  But I don’t want to.  I kind of want to online shop.  But I won’t.

I did have a production meeting/read-through for a project I’m working on.  And once again, I’m going to be put in a pretty dress and locked in a cage, and tortured and abused.  Yup, it’s a suspense/horror.  Why do I do this to myself?  Oh right, I love acting.  Boy am I dumb!

Sometimes I’m A Little Weird

Glasses & Shoes – F21; Dress – AE; Earrings – Walmart; Belt – thrifted; Watch – gift from Husband.

Do you know what I love?  I love fatty protein shakes.  Weird, I know.  But I love making *soy-free, dairy-free* shakes with a huuuuuge dollop of almond or cashew butter.  It’s absolutely wonderful post run or after a Kung Fu training session.  And sometimes *perhaps today* I love to throw in some strong iced coffee into it and have it for breakfast.  It’s so thick and creamy and it perks me right up!

But enough about food.

Last night, I  had a rehearsal for Posthuman *read about that here* The above outfit was what I wore to said rehearsal *which is soooo not appropriate for the character I play, but whatever*  Anyway, it was hot and humid, and by the time I got to the bus stop *a two minute walk* the entire area around my belt was wet with sweat *gross!!*  So, for the duration of the bus and subway ride I removed the belt and hoped that things would air out.  They did, so I just kept the belt off.  And I forgot about it until we were just about to leave.  I probably looked a little weird pulling a belt out of my purse suddenly and putting it on.  But I wanted to wear it as soon as I remembered ’cause I thought it was cute!

Two Outfit Posts In One Day? What?!?

Sunglasses & Dress – F21; Bangles – Ardene; Flip Flops – Abercrombie&Fitch.

So I thought I’d post this outfit before the days got away from me and the pic were just sitting on my computer.  I wore this to set for Day 2 on the music video I recently shot.  I would’ve liked to wear cute nude sandals, but the flip flops were a practical necessity: the shoes I wear for the shoot are really hot and I wanted to have these to change into for shots where you didn’t see my feet.

Oh and FYI – I have a black bruise on my hip and two on my knees from the shoot, plus a bad sunburn on the back of my neck in the shape of a Vee – the exact shape the costume didn’t cover.  The bruises and hurt have really made me nostalgic for training days.  So I’m gonna try the Muay Thai place around the corner.  It’s not Kung Fu (my specialty) but it’s still a cool Martial Art.  I’ll let you know how that goes.

I just had to share this with you: my friend, Reggy,  commented on my photo and says I look like Katie Holmes in these shots.  I’m very flattered *blush*

“B%#$h Boots”

Husband started snapping shots while I was trying to get the music I just put on my phone to work.

I couldn’t figure it out.

I started to get a bit frustrated.
Success!!
Grooving to Britney’s ‘Femme Fatale’
Shirt – Smart Set; Shorts – AE; Glasses – F21; Boots – Feet First; Socks – Sears

This past Sunday I had a day out to myself.  I went browsing stores, had lunch, bought a trashy magazine and generally bummed around.  I needed that break after being alone with Baby for five days when she’s teething – whiny, sucky and crying from morning to night.  I needed a break.

So Sunday, after a wonderful run, I headed out.

Since it’s finally warm, the shorts have come out.  I didn’t used to wear shorts.  I was always oddly self-conscious about how my legs looked in shorts.  Don’t know why.  It’s not like I have any weird disfigurement that should make me self-conscious.  But I was.  Over the last few years though I’ve relaxed a bit about myself and gotten over some of those weird image idiosyncrasies *not all of them, mind you, just some*  And I’ve come to really love short shorts!  Since the weather said it was going to be warm with rain in the evening, I wanted something that would work for both.  Shorts for the warmth, long sleeve button up for when it got a little chillier in the evening, and boots for the rain so my feet don’t get wet.  Hence, this outfit was born.

Why was I staying out in the evening?  ‘Cause I was having dinner with the wonderful crew of Posthuman, the web series I’m working on.  And the title of the post comes from Jason, aka “Porter”, who referred to these gray slouchies as ‘b@$#h boots.”  Seriously, you need to check out this show!  Episode three has a tiny cameo before my character really jumps in and gets dirty, and the newest mini-episode gives you a little more background into who I’m playing – Dorothy Ascher.  Let me know what you think.  You know I love to hear from you.

Oh and don’t forget to check out the Behind-the-Scenes video below.  We get silly!

Busy, Busy Girl

My Ruche booties!

This is what the table in front of me looks like.  Good thing you guys can’t see it on air!

Cardi &Boots – Ruche; Shirt – Walmart; Shorts – AE; Ring – Spotted Moth.
*pardon the pics.  All I had was my old point and shoot and it was dark*

Monday was day one on the set of another music video that I did (you can read about that here).  And it was another hot and humid day.  To top it all off, I had to be up bright and early, and be prepared to go right from the music video set to Movieola to host a live on-air evening shift.  So, I decided to go for cute but comfortable.  Shorts and a sweet cardigan *it’s cold under the AC in the studio* and the Ruche booties are so wonderfully comfy.  They’re slowly becoming a go-to item for set days.

Tidbit:  I liked these boots so much I recommended them to my mom and she ordered a pair!

Forgive Me?

Hey, I know I haven’t posted in a while, and that’s because I’ve been crazy busy.  I’m so excited to tell you all about it!  And to post all the outfit shots.  Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait just a little bit longer.  But trust me, it’s going to be soooo worth it!

I’m posting this from another computer not my home one, so I don’t have a chance to edit my photos and post them.  Forgive me right??

But in the meantime, I seriously need you to check out the web series I’m doing.  It’s awesome!  Check out the mini-episode “TheVoice”  to learn a little more about my character – Dorothy Ascher.  And then check out the third episode called “The Past” to see a brief cameo by me before Dorothy makes her grand debut!

Tell me what you think!

Simple and Effortless

Shirt – Smart Set; Jeans – Mavi; Shoes – AE.

You know I usually like to dress a little more interesting.  I like patterns and vintage and dresses and skirts.  But! I had a general audition yesterday.  I was auditioning not for a specific role but more to showcase what I can do; so, in that vein I wanted to look as neutral and versatile as possible.  Hence, the simplest outfit you can get – dark jeans and a t-shirt.  I like this simple, and effortless look, but for my own personal style I would add a fun scarf, or cute cardigan, or make the shirt a band shirt.  However, if you’re ever in a rush just throw these pieces together and, if you can, add some simple silver jewelry and you’ll look casual chic.

And now to our regularly scheduled wacky outfits…

When You Fall…

Jacket – Old Navy; Shirt – swapped; Belt – ?; Skirt – ?; Shoes – Aldo

I was trying something new with my camera and it kind of failed.  But oh well.  If you don’t try, you never learned.  So I messed with these shots as much as I could to stylize them a little.  I promise better ones are on the way!

This is the outfit I wore yesterday to the last day of the music video shoot.  But I forgot to take shots yesterday, so I quickly jumped into it today to snap some pics.  And of course, today’s outfit is on the way.

So, I got yet another email saying that it was between me and another woman for a role and they went with the other woman.  Bummer.

Guess I got to pick myself up and get back on those horses.

Windstorms Of Amsterdam

My mind is all a flutter today.  It’s a bit of pathetic fallacy, what with the rain and wind outside, but it’s also a bit situational.  You see in the past while, I’ve been going to a string of auditions and getting this close to getting the role in each one.  And it’s starting to get me all in a whirlwind.  Husband said that I should be proud that I got so close, but I say, “Does anyone remember the guy who got this close to playing Obi Wan?  Or Han Solo? No.”  There are no runners up in acting.  Hence my brain is clouded and whirling.  It’s not a negative place, just a questioning and confusing place.

So I thought it fitting to share with you my shots from Amsterdam.  The graffiti *random, chaotic art*, the weather while I was there, and the thoughts going on in my head at the time were all very similar to what’s happening up in my head right now.

Hope you enjoy the pics!
