A few of you have already written in with some questions for “Ask Me Anything.” Thanks so much for that. I really enjoy getting your questions. Today I start answering them, and the first question comes from Chelsea over at Sunny With A Chance of Sprinkles. Here goes!
Q: What lead you to the decision to keep your daughter out of your blog and to not use her face in pictures?
Good question.

April 19, 2013Great video! Sometimes I hesitate about the amount of photos I share… but I don't feel bad about it. She's a part of me and I love sharing that facet of my life. Ask for forgiveness later? 😉

April 19, 2013I don't have kids (yet) but I've definitely thought about people reblogging pictures of my future babies, because it happened to someone I know! She has quadruplets and someone took her pictures off her blog and made a whole new blog, and renamed the kids and made up new stories about them. Creepy. I think if I ever end up blog pictures of my kids I'll include obvious watermarks and disable the right click + save. You can also occasionally to a google image search of your photos you think are most likely to be stolen, and if someone steals your photos you can take legal action.

April 19, 2013Great video and I agree with you. I do not have any children but I have thought about this, if by chance I do have them in the future. I don't wish to post any pictures of my 'future' children on the web, whether it be Facebook, Instagram, my blog or elsewhere.

April 19, 2013You make a very good point + you do it in a tasteful, non-offending manner! Thanks for filling me in! It's completely understandable. I've went back and forth with having Alea on my blog, but have decided to keep her there because Cory's family lives a ways a way and they love being able to see Alea on my blog!

April 20, 2013I appreciate your thoughts on this topic. I have gotten a few eye rolls at my refusal to use my daughter's face or name on my blog, and I have wondered if I was being over-protective or sensitive about it. Nice to know there are those who share my opinions.

April 23, 2013I do not have kids yet but have been thinking about this topic for awhile now. My thoughts are along the same lines as yours but then I get concerned that we're sometimes too 'scared' of having our faces online. I know that a lot of people question my choice to even blog online and the 'footprint' that I am leaving on the web. I think that, at some point in the future, it may become the norm but I think it is wise to err on the side of caution at the moment.

April 25, 2013Great explanation! This is the same reason I just use the first letter of my boys' name. I do use their faces, but then, it'd be awful hard to show the hats I sewed without the head they're on, and G throws a hairy canary if my camera is out and the picture isn't of HIM!
