Showing Your Colors

Hat – Ruche; Dress & Belt – H&M; Shoes – Payless; Earrings – independent artisan.

For us Canadians yesterday was a great day; we celebrated the birth of our nation.  While many people had bbqs with friends and then watched the fireworks, I chose to wear our national colors *red and white* on air while I hosted Movieola.  Our friends south of the border have Independence Day coming up, so tell me, how are you going to celebrate? And for you Canucks, how did you spend Canada Day?

On a side note, I played the BSG board game for the first time yesterday, and it’s so much fun!  I think I’m going to buy my own copy on the way to work today!  So much fun trying to figure out who’s a cylon!

Just Hangin’ Out

I’ll go to any height to get a shot!

Top – Ruche or Threadsence; Jeans – swapped; Shoes – Payless.

I wanted to wear this top yesterday, but Baby’s fever after her vaccinations changed the plan for the whole day.  Today, she’s back to her trouble-making self and so the clothes fun is back on!

I love how this top looks, but I’m really hopeless when it comes to styling crop tops.  I honestly have no idea how to wear them.  So I’m reaching out to you.  I’d love any and all ideas on how you would wear this top.  Help!

My Brain Makes No Sense Today

You can’t see but my nails are a pretty ballerina pink!

Cardi & Belt – Zara; Dress – H&M; Tank – ??; Shoes – Payless.

Sorry, but my hair is wet and unstyled in these shots!  I had to head out and I needed to take pics ’cause I knew I wouldn’t get a chance to later.  So that’s my excuse.  Lame, I know.  But there it is.

Don’t you hate summer colds?  It’s warm and nice outside *well, maybe not today* and you’re stuffed up and headachy.  Kinda sucks.   Well, that’s where the whole Fam is today.  Yup, we’re all sick.  Well, maybe not Drake the Dog, but he eats poop so he probably has the immunity of a cockroach.

I’ve got an activity planned for Husband and I.  It’s something that I’m instituting and I’ll tell you about it once he knows.  It’s only fair that he should hear it first.  So you’ll just have to check back.

Also, check out what a professional *not really, but that’s the funny part* I am on set here.

Okay, this post is random and all over the place, but that’s just where my head is at today.  can’t think straight or in coherent ideas and transitions.

So I’m gonna go eat gluten-free pizza.
*yes, I’m just that wild ‘n crazy*

K. Bye.

Dress 66: A Dress You Can Bike In

I’ve decided to grow out my bangs after all.  Don’t worry though, I’ll keep plenty of layers.

Close-up of the scarf and necklace I wore.
Jacket – Jacob; Scarf – Ruche; Dress – Ruche; Tights – Hue; Loafers – AE

Today I had an audition, and faced with the choice of either riding the TTC for 40 minutes or biking for 15, I chose the later.  But I still wanted to look cute.  So today’s outfit was put together because of the practicalities of biking.  I needed thick tights to protect my pasty legs from the cold and also make sure my derriere was completely covered should a gust of wind come along and blow my dress up.  Also, I needed flat comfy shoes…I just can not bike in heels.  If you can, I applaud you.

On a side note, the little owl necklace belonged to my mother.  When I was a teenager I asked her if I could take it, and it has been a favorite of mine ever since.  I’ve always liked owls, especially this one.

True Story:  When one does it, the other has to shove their dirty little mug in too!

Dress 62: ‘Queen of Baby Humor’ Pleased To Meet You

See?  Drake the Dog has to get in every shot!

Cardigan – Kische; Shirt – swap; Dress – AE; Leggings – F21; Boots – somewhere in NYC

I was feeling a little quirky and goofy when I got dressed today.  I wanted something a little odd, and I’m quite pleased with the result.  Mixing a button up with a summer casual dress like this felt weird, but when I put it on, I was pleasantly surprised that it just seemed to work.  I love little surprises like that.

Okay, seriously,  I have the cutest baby in the world.  I know every mom thinks that, but seriously, she’s cute.  Today, she giggled for half an hour!  Why?  Because first I was kissing her hand while she sucked her thumb, and then I was kissing her feet.  Hilarious!  Apparently.  Who knew I was the queen of baby stand-up?

Explains why I’m not funny amoung adults, wrong audience for my humor.
I need to work on a younger crowd.
Diapers, that’s my niche.
And not geriatric diapers….although….

Dress 53: Dots! Dots! Dots!

My street on the way to work was very dreary.
Dress – Ruche; Tights – Hue
Earrings – F21; I love the chiffon detail on this dress.
Cardi – Old Navy.

I love polka dots!  I don’t think there’s a polka dot that I haven’t liked.  I see it and I am irressistibly drawn to it like a moth to a flame.  And when I saw this dress on special at Ruche, I couldn’t resist adding it to my arsenal.  It’s comfortable and I love the chiffon detailing around the neckline.  I think it’s such a fun spring print too.  Polka dots are never out of style!  *at least in my head*  Trash, stash, or save?  Oh, save for sure!

True Story: I’m a little sad today.  Baby is moving out of our room and into her room.  So I’m going through a little pre-emptive seperation anxiety.  I’m going to miss her so much, but I know it’s for her own good.  She’s got to learn to sleep by herself in her won room.  Hopefully, she’ll sleep better too.

Dress 43: The Big Question…I Need Your Help!

Jacket – Jacob; Shirt – F21; Dress – H&M; Tights – Hue; Loafers – AE

No you’re not having deja vu, you’ve seen a similar dress before here.  But I told you then that I loved this dress so much I bought it in two colors.  So here’s the second color.  I am absolutely bonkers about the brown and gray combo.  There’s something refined, but oh so easy about it that I can’t resist.  Trash, stash, or save?  I’m thinking since I loved it enough to buy two of them, that it’s a save.  That one was easy right?

But on to more important things…

Here’s what I need your help with right now.  It’s super important…yes, more important than the people starving in the Sudan.  Okay, maybe not more important but a close second.  *yes, I’m being cheeky*  Should I keep my bangs, or grow them out?

The shot on the left is a much older pic, but it give you an idea.

Husband and another person have told me to grow them out.  Husband specifically liked me more without bangs.  Another person said she liked me more with bangs.  So I’m confused.  I need help deciding and I’d appreciate some honest, non-biased opinions.  Thanks so much!

Dress 17: I Know, I Copped Out!

Dress – little shop in Bruges; Jeans – Guess; Shirt – Smart Set; *Ignore the socks*

Me bundled up outside.

I wore this dress with pants, which I know is a bit of a cop-out, but here me out.  I was going out today – shopping, errands, etc – and since it’s still very cold outside I knew I’d be wearing my sporty coat for most of it.  Now a sporty, puffy coat, though necessary, doesn’t look the best with a pretty dress; so, I wore the jeans because it looks better together on the outside.  I love this little sweater dress for it’s softness, and the fact that it has polka dots. ‘Cause I love those! Notice how Drake the Dog has to be in every picture?  I tell ya, he wants a blog of his own.  I just know it!

Tarh, stash or save?

Dress 14: What’s Black, White and Gray All Over?

Dress – H&M; Sweater – Aritzia; Belt – ?; Leggings – Forever XXI

Today is Thursday, which means that today I got together with some of the mom’s that I know…which means that today we complained about being moms.  No seriously, I love getting together with these ladies.  They’re all very funny, and very easygoing, and it’s necessary to have someone to talk about all these things with.  I love my girlfriends, but since they don’t have kids they don’t quite get it.  These women do.  So it always revitalizes me to chat with them.  Plus, I love the excuse to have a coffee and a big cookie!

I bought this dress originally in brown and white polka dots, but I loved it so much I went back and bought it in black and white too.  *Confession – I bought it as a Maternity dress too because the empire waist and a-line gave me room to expand…and expand I did*  It was so cheap and so cute and comfy I couldn’t resist having it in two colors.  I was even tempted to get it in red and white, but I thought that would be going overboard.  It’s a summer dress, and it’s one that I thought I could only wear in the summer, but paired with a shirt and tights underneath and a chunky sweater on top, I think it totally works for the winter too. Trash, stash, or save?

Stay tuned for the brown and white one.

Good night all.  It’s date night – movie, hot apple cider, berries…and hopefully a foot massage from Husband.

See you all tomorrow!
