No surprise, I would love to be in a Star Wars film, and put my sword skills to good use with a light saber.  That dream is right up there with being in a Star trek show/movie, and fighting Jet Li in a scene – any scene.  If I could achieve all three of those, I could die right there and then a happy woman.

In the meantime, I’ll snap up little things like this hooded blanket scarf that allow me to play subtle Jedi knight dress up in my daily life.

What’s that line? “If you build it, they will come.”  If I wear it, Yoda will come?

It’s That Time of Year

That time where it gets so cold that I can barely stand leaving my house.  That time where I literally run outside for two minutes to grab outfit photos because that’s all I can bare.  Yup, it’s that time.  Where I laugh and shake my head at my own stupidity for going outside at all.

Happy Winter!

There’s A Grumpy-Pants Pattern

I notice that in the last few posts there’s a distinct trend.  It’s because when travelling *grandparents on both sides for Christmas* and when I feel a bit sleepy/grumpy *which I have been* I tend to go for the uniform that I mentioned on Monday.

Yup, that’s the explanation.  Even with tights, it’s just really hard to get dressed in dresses when it’s cold.  Plus somehow, pants are easier when you’re a grumpy-pants.

What do you go for as grumpy-pants clothes?

A few nights ago, my girl was crying in her sleep.  I went into her room to investigate why:

“Shhhh, why are you crying,” I asked as I stroked her hair.
In her sleep she answered, “I don’t want to wear a hat!”
“You don’t want to wear a hat?”
“No”
“Well, you’re in bed, so you don’t have to wear a hat, okay?”
She nodded and nuzzled into her blankie.

This whole conversation in her sleep.

Weekend Uniform…

…that’s what the t-shirt says. And though as a freelancer there is no such thing as ‘weekend,’ if I were to have a *winter* weekend uniform this would be it: jeans, boots *though you can’t see them*, big cardi/kimono, slouchy top, and scarf.

With fringe.  You just know that something would have to have fringe.
And a fun pattern/graphic – like this tee and sweater.

Okay, so I guess my uniform is pretty specific.

The end of 2014.  To be honest, I’m kind of glad it’s over today.  The last year has been challenging *let’s use that word shall we* and though 2015 is not off to a great start, at least with the unknown there’s the possibility and the *dare I say* hope that things will change for the better.

One thing is nice, I’ve been working my way through the house slowly over the last few days, cleaning everything.  I mean everything: washing walls, washing baseboards, moving all the furniture out of the way, emptying, cleaning, and sorting everything.  And it feel so much better to walk through the areas of the house that have been done.  They are as clean as when we moved into the house and it de-stresses me in a wonderful way.

New Year, clean start. Symbolic perhaps?  Let’s hope.

As everyone scrambles to get their shopping done, I’m enjoying the little things with my family.  We have free passes to Casa Loma, so that’s on the agenda today.  And yesterday we traded with a neighbor for an espresso machine.

None of it took shopping or money, all of it just took some good will.  The result is that this morning we’re nursing our first homemade lattes, and heading out to spend a day as a family.

I know, it’s disgusting how Hallmark the day is…but I love it.

As Christmas approaches, I’m still amazed at the amount of green present.  I thought for sure we would have brown foliage, and white snow, but no,  Just damp, cold, still greenish stuff on the ground.  But hey, I’ll take that over negative twenty degrees any day.

This year I’m trying to go as low-key as possible.  I’ve avoided all the possible holiday parties, and am attempting to have the least amount of stress and business.  Sometimes, some years, I’m all about the parties and people and events.  Others, I’m really about the quietest possible of days.  It’s all about balance and figuring out what you need right?

What are you focusing on this year?

Just before the huge snowfall I managed to grab two outfits that I haven’t yet shared with you.  I know, I know.  I should do things chronologically, but hey, I really wanted to show that pretty pretty dress, and then I wanted to complain talk about snow; so, I just bumped this a bit.

Hey, I always said I share my daily outfits, just may not be in the exact order I wore them in.  That’s fair right?  Sometimes, I’m just plain lazy *read: pooped from working and mothering* to edit pics and  post them in the exact order they came in.

So shoot me.  Or just send coffee…that might be the less murdery option.

There was a snowstorm.
There. Was. A. Snowstorm.
There was a SNOWSTORM.

And it was cold.

I decided not to leave the house.

And tea.  I decided to drink a lot of tea.
