Byron was epic. Don’t get me wrong. But it’s nice to get the real experience and get some balance.
Having seen it in highlight reel Instagram photos, it was good to experience it myself. I got to see the stunning beaches – and they are stunning – and experience the cool town. They have coconut soft serve ice cream and delicious dairy alternatives everywhere. They have fantastic markets, and amazing clothes shop every which way you look. They have stunningly gorgeous people, and beautiful patios.
But they also have salespeople who judge you *as well as awesome ones* , and highly pricey food, and the town itself is very transient and young. If I had to choose, I think I’d like to live in one of the smaller beach towns, say thirty minutes away, either up or down the coast. It was good to have a bit of balance to the perfection. I like to see the things you don’t necessarily like – it makes them real and it makes them solid. Byron is a fantastic place, but it ain’t perfect. Nothing is. And that’s how I like it.
