“Then there are those people who over identify with their emotions. Everything is justified for no other reason than they felt it….You know who bases their entire lives on their emotions? Three-year-old kids. And dogs.” – The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k.

I found this very refreshing to read. Being an artist surrounded by artists I too often hear emotions used to justify harmful, stupid, or just plain selfish behaviour. I’m sick of it. Feeling vulnerable, or overwhelmed or sad, or angry does not give you an excuse for behaving like a rude selfish person. I’m not thinking of any particular situation – this is more a reflection about an aggregate amount of behaviour I have seen over the last few years.

Emotions are a good indicator, but they should not be the sole and unprincipled guide to your life. Everything needs checks and balances, and the heart needs the head. And vice versa.
