We went foraging. I taught her how to harvest, gave her a bag and let her go.
I’m slowly learning about the edible plants in our area, focusing on weeds and invasive species because then no one will complain when I take them. On this trip as we walked I asked her about one plant, and taught her about two others.
She ran around for an hour and a half gathering dandelion heads. Later on, she kept stealing them off the plate after I fried them up into fritters. And the next day I made clover soup with our haul.
But on the way home, Andrew said that she’ll probably have a lot of positive memories from this Covid time, like foraging with Mom and Dad. That made me happy. I’m excited to take these steps towards living sustainably.
