A girlfriend and I decided to go out for a girl’s trip and head to Unionville.

Why? Because it’s freaking gorgeous? Because it was a beautiful Fall day? No, because the first few episodes of Gilmore Girls were shot there and though we didn’t want to drop the $300 for the fan fest, we wanted to walk around the location.

And I wanted to drop by the Markham Heritage Estates. The town of Markham gave historic houses that were about to be lost a home here on this little subdivision. The town sells the lots of land at a markedly reduced price to owners of historic houses to offset the cost of relocating them. As a result, the street and two loops are the most quiet and characteristic places to drive around. Or even get out and walk around. Or even, make your newly learner’s permit friend practice around.
