There’s this idea that to have style and be fashionable you have to spend a lot of money on the latest clothes. Well, you don’t. Not only do you not need the latest clothes because that’s a consumer myth propagated to us to sell more clothes, but you also don’t need new clothes all the time. I’d like to think that I have some style, and if you agree keep reading. If you don’t, then I wish you a great day.

So you agree, okay. Here’s the thing, you don’t need the latest and you don’t need new. First off, I buy clearance, end of season, sale on sale – that means by the time I get that ‘new’ item it’s already last seasons style. Second, I buy thrift and used ’cause that keeps those clothes from the landfill. And lastly, I keep my clothes and care for them so they last as long as possible.

For example, today’s outfit consists of a navy sweater I bought over 8 years ago on clearance, and a dress I got 5 years ago with a sale on sale discount code. The boots? You guessed it, end of season sale several years ago.

You don’t need new or latest, don’t fall for it. Your credit card will thank you. What you do need is attitude, baby! I’m pretty sure Giselle could rock a burlap sack because she’s got swagger.

Show me some Monday swagger!
