Forever XXI had always been one of my favorites – well, since it came to Canada.  I love the fact that it’s trendy but at very affordable prices.  I have to be wary of their skirts, shorts and dresses because they’re often far too short on me, but otherwise it’s a goldmine of wonderful fun trends.  Lately, however there’s been a distaste associated with the brand.  Since I saw on their site a shirt that said “Allergic to Algebra”  I’ve had an unpleasant thought associated with the company.

I know that companies, like people, make mistakes, but the fact that they had such a shirt on their site just shocked me.  What kind of ideals are we spreading to our young women?  That their looks are more important than their brains?  I like fashion – I write a fashion blog after all – but I’m not so naive as to think that my appearance is the be all and end all of my being.  I certainly hope not!  I’m no supermodel, so if that’s all I put stock in I’d be depressed most of the day.  So, I don’t understand why we’re doing that to our young women.  I know I won’t quit Forever XXI, but I hope that they have a conversation with their buyers and re-iterate the ideals of promoting integrity.
