Day two in Ottawa was windy, can you tell?  It’s odd to sit here looking at these shots now that I’m back.  It feels ages ago, though it was only three days ago.  I guess that’s what a busy and tiring weekend will do to you.  I’ve had the pleasure of having three great photo shoots booked this weekend, so needless to say, I’m knackered!  But excited about editing and getting some Spring cleaning/downsizing done.

You guys doing Spring cleaning?  Any tips???

Dare I Hope?

Apologies for being absent without cause for the week.  I’ve been led to the wayside by acting workshops, and auditions, and a shoot coming up in the next few days.  Thankfully, the weather promises to not drop to the double negatives for the next little while.  *Dare I hope that Spring has actually arrived at my little corner of the world?*  So as the weather warms, my motivations to venture outside the house and take more consistent shots will also warm.

Also, stay tuned for a fabulous giveaway next week!

Her Go-To Poses

Dress – Mango //  Shirt – Gap  //  Boots – Call It Spring  //  Tights – HUE  //  Necklace – Ten Thousand Villages

These days whenever I try to take outfit shots guess who wants to run in there and ham it up for the camera?
Yup, that little pink booted girl.  She’s pretty awesome though.
Her go-to poses are the stick out tongue, the innocent smile, and the hands on hips.
She’s nailed those.

Red Nosed Winter Boots

Epic fail as a fashion blogger.  That’s what this Winter has caused.  I’m wearing the same warm winter boots in every outfit because that’s the only thing that I can wear without my toes freezing off!  How sad is that?  Plus, my shots – excepting today – are mostly just outside my home as it’s way too cold to travel far for some inspired backgrounds.  And finally, there’s perpetual red nose on me *that I could photoshop away, except that I’d like to stay honest with you guys* from the bitter wind.

I’m sooo way past ready for Spring.

Have a great weekend.  See ya for more red nosed, winter boot outfits.

My Padawan

So my lovely girl gives Andrew an order, as she tends to do. He turns to her and playfully answers, “Yes Boss!”  To which she promptly and seriously, like she’s explaining the state of affairs to someone who so clearly does not get it, replies, “No!! I not the boss.  Mommy’s the boss!!!”

I have taught her well, my young Padawan. *that’s a Star Wars reference in case you don’t get it*

Confession Time

Dress –  Tini Lilli //  Cardigan – Cecico  //  Tights – F21  //  Thigh Highs – HUE  //  Boots – Call It Spring  //  Necklace – Threadsence

Confession time, as I think you’re due.  I don’t usually talk about my health and such on the site. But I’ve been fighting an infection via antibiotics for a couple weeks, and last week I was hit really hard with something.  My fever and reactions were so bad, Andrew was told by the doctor that if it gets even a wee bit worse to race me to emergency or call an ambulance.  Luckily, things turned that evening and since then it’s been a slow and steady climb towards health.  Not 100% there yet, but enough that I managed a little run last night.

This is not to get any pity, just a truth moment as to why I’ve been absent on the site.  It’s not that I don’t care, it’s just that my outfit changes have involved changing from sweat soaked pajamas to fresh pajamas.  So I’ve also had nothing to post.

Lastly, being perfectly honest, this outfit is from just before I was hit hard for my week long stay in bed.   Hope you guys have a great Monday!

We all know we live in a consumer society.  When we need something we go to the shop.  So while out doing the groceries, Baby Girl turned to me and asked, “Mama, where you go buy me?”

I answered, “To the best store ever.”

I patted myself on the back for that quick thinking.

Cry For Help

Lace Kimono – Lush  //  Long Cardigan – Cecico  //  Dress  –  unknown, I altered it myself  //  Tights – Hansel From Basel  //  Socks – unknown  //  Boots – Aldo  //  Necklace – unknown  //  Belt – F21

Instead of my regular post I’m writing a cry for help today.  I’m
serious.  I’m being held hostage.  She’s short, and blond, and has a bit
of a lisp.  She also sucks her thumb and can currently be found wearing
a bright blue and pink fairy costume. Call for help.

She
makes me build blocks endlessly, and dance and twirl until I can’t take
it anymore.  I think she might be a little sadistic too since she
smiles and giggles as I twirl or build again despite my momentary
resistance.

And that’s another matter.  I have no resistance.  I build and twirl and dance on command as she laughs. Laughs I tell you.

Call Child Protective Services please.  I’m desperate.  They protect you from children right??

Last week, our power went out for four days due to the ice storm that hit Toronto, and Southern Ontario.  Then, just as the power came back on, on Christmas Day, my baby girl came down with the stomach flu.  So while nursing her and throwing out all the food in our fridge, we wished ourselves a Merry Christmas.  Once she finally started getting better, I started vomiting with the same stomach flu, and spent a happy birthday on the couch or…well…doing that vomiting thing.  Of course, I had just stopped and was still really weak, when Andrew got it.  Which brings us up to now.

Hard to believe it was all just one week.

That’s the reason I’ve been absent here.  As reasons go, I think it’s pretty good.  I hope you all had a much better holiday than us.  And I wish us all a fabulous New Year!

Salut!

That Special Something From SNS Jewelry Studio

Sometimes, like on a night where you’re going on a date, you need something special to make you feel a little more luxurious. Something like this pendant from SNS Jewelry Studio.

Sitar Pendant – c/o  SNS Jewelry Studio  //  Dress – Pink Owl via Ruche  //  Cardigan – Darling via Emerging Thoughts  //  Tights – I forget  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Bag – unknown

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all up for cheap and trendy jewelry.  I love to try something outlandish and know I haven’t spent a lot on it.  But there is something truly spectacular about a piece that you choose, that you love, and that you purchase with care.

The Sitar Pendant has just the right mix of elegance and boho for me.  It’s deep purple stone speaks to my favorite color and something about the richness feels like you get can lost in it. Putting on something you treasure suddenly makes you stand up taller and straighter.  If you’re me, it also puts a little sway into your step.  It’s definitely something every woman should have.  That special piece of jewelery that makes you feel like Sophia Loren…in milkmaid braids.
