In the Winter I start to feel a bit like Snow White. Not all stunning, sleepy, and singing, but dark haired and getting paler by the second.
Hope everyone has recovered well from the New Years celebration.
Every Winter, no matter how mild the Winter, there’s this anticipation.
Perhaps not the most logical of things to put together.
Regardless of what may come. Regardless of shifts in my style. I have been and always shall be a nerd. *Anyone catch the Wrath of Khan reference?*
So when a good friend shared a picture of the Star Wars Vans his wife got him. I immediately commented with, “WHERE?!?!!?”
They were on sale, and the next day I had called to have them set aside in my size, because there was no way I wasn’t getting a pair. Now, I have A New Hope on my feet, and it makes my geeky little heart sing every time I look down at my feet.
Which I do a lot now, and I really wish they’d stop putting poles and people right in front of me suddenly.
Andrew and I went out on a date. Dinner, a little shopping, and a movie. Yup, this was my hot date night get-up. Just a little reminder of exactly who he’s with…sci-fi obsessed nerd girl.
Some ladies might put on a sexy red dress and heels, I put on my Star Wars shirt and beanie. Oh yeah, hawt.
*sarcasm fully intended*
Now that we’re in the deep throes of Winter, I’m drawn to simple, monochromatic, and cozy. Layers, layers, layers – that’s the name of the game. Chunky knits and things that pile on to add warmth.
Basically, I’m turning myself into a big marshmallow puff ball, if possible.
As Christmas approaches, I’m still amazed at the amount of green present. I thought for sure we would have brown foliage, and white snow, but no, Just damp, cold, still greenish stuff on the ground. But hey, I’ll take that over negative twenty degrees any day.
This year I’m trying to go as low-key as possible. I’ve avoided all the possible holiday parties, and am attempting to have the least amount of stress and business. Sometimes, some years, I’m all about the parties and people and events. Others, I’m really about the quietest possible of days. It’s all about balance and figuring out what you need right?
What are you focusing on this year?
There was a snowstorm.
There. Was. A. Snowstorm.
There was a SNOWSTORM.
And it was cold.
I decided not to leave the house.
And tea. I decided to drink a lot of tea.
I know some people rotate their closets for the seasons, but I don’t really do that. Sure I put away any halter tops and bikinis, but otherwise it all stays in there because I just wear it differently. This romper for example, it’s backless and strappy, and made for summer, so in the summer that’s how I wear it. But it’s such a great print and I love the cut that to put it away for half the year seems a shame. Enter layering.
A cami underneath, and a sweater and jacket combo on top and I’m ready to rock it for Fall. Who says you can’t have your closet year round!
