I’ll Let You In On The Lie

Top – Zara  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Shoes – Rocketdog from Winners  //  Necklace – Ruche  //
Sunnies – F21  //  Bag – patches scoured from the internet

I didn’t wear this today or yesterday.  Today I’m sick, as I was yesterday, so really I’m not fit for human consumption.  This I wore a few days ago and the photos have been sitting on my computer.  The lie is this, I post daily outfits here, but sometimes they’re no on the exact day I wore them.  I try to be as recent as possible.  I also try to show you the reality, to the best of my ability, but today I’m sick and that’s when these pictures come to save the day.

They give me a chance to interact with you.  Give you a chance to see an outfit that I did in fact wear.  And they give me a chance to wallow in my PJs with a pot of tea.

Reveries in Silence

Toronto is a big city.  The fourth largest in North America.  It’s busy, noisy, alive, and ever moving. Yet, in this busy, and at times chaotic city, there is an order that is predictable and fastidiously kept.   The business district on a Sunday afternoon for instance.  Since I’m freelance/ self-employed I have no set schedule and often don’t think about the impact of such a thing. But when I found this deserted square in the ghostly silent business district I was harshly reminded of the routine that most people keep.  It was a potent pathetic fallacy that the concrete, stones, and streets keep the same hours as it’s inhabitants.
So there I stood, an outsider to this fluid rhythm of life. My camera the only companion to this moment of reverie.

MASH For Hard Times

Jacket – F21  //  Top – SammyDress  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Necklace – H&M Icon Collection
Have you guys ever seen MASH?  I haven’t, but I’ve been watching it recently from the very beginning and I must say I love it.  The quirky, campy feel of it, especially considering the subject matter, hits a perfect note.  I think it’s especially applicable considering the tragedies that happen all around the world today.  Even in the worst places, and the worst times, joy and humor can be found.  They help us get through it.
Thinking of you Boston.

State of Mind

Tee & Jeans – Gap //Vest – AE //  Jacket – F21  //  Boots – Feet First  //  Necklace – don’t remember
There are days when all I want is to go into a downtime mode.  That’s when the classic jeans and a tee come into the mix.  It’s when you just want to be casual and low key, and perhaps reflect the calm, serene look of your clothes into your mind, that the classic of jeans and a plain tee never fail.

Swirling

  Sweater – Pink Martini  //  Top – Threadsence  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Locale  //  Necklace – Ruche  //  Earrings – Ten Thousand Villages
Today is one of those days where there are so many thoughts swirling about my head that I can’t seem to pick out one in order to focus on it.  I wish I could pluck one out and share it with you.  Instead, all I have for you are these pictures.
p.s.  A couple of you have asked about how to get this hair.  Well, it’s really the result of wearing this Easy Headband Updo in for a whole day.
True Story:
Baby Girl has decided to help me with my boots the way I help her, by holding them out for me to put my foot into.
She insists on it and won’t let me do it myself.
But because she’s two what that really means is I spend 10 minutes hopping around on one leg trying to catch the ever moving boot opening.

What do you wear to cook zucchini with bacon?

Top – WkShp via Threadsence  //  Jacket – F21  //  Tank & Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Locale

This apparently.  Yup, this – sans the jacket – was the outfit in which I prepared zucchini with bacon and a greens rice bowl.  Yup, the cooking continues and I think if I have to do it, at least I’ll look good.  Maybe I’ll even distract you from the food by my cute outfit?
Here’s hoping.

Broken Kettle

Sweater – F21  //  Top – ModCloth  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Locale  //  Bag & Necklace – Ruche

Do you know why I have a slight grimace in these pictures?  Because it’s freezing!  It was so cold I almost got frostbite in the five minutes it took to take these pictures.  I had to warm up my fingers to get the feeling back enough to put my camera away.   Why do I say this?  I say this to reiterate why I hate this time of year.

Oh and to add insult to injury our kettle broke.  So I’m boiling water for my tea in a pot over the stove.  In a pot people.

*THUD*

Coat – UO  //  Scarf – Kensie  //  Sweater – made by my Babcia  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Le Petite Pieds

Geez!  Seriously, it has not stopped pouring lately, except when it’s decided to snowstorm.  It stops raining for that.  Yup.  Loads of fun here, I tell you.   I’ve gotten to that point.  You know the one, where it’s been cold for so long, and you’ve been layering for so long, that you start to hate the clothes in your closet ’cause you’re just going to have to layer and layer and layer.  *Side note: If you have no idea what I’m talking about then you live in a perpetually warm climate and I kind of hating you a little bit right now.  Just a little bit*  But yes, I’ve hit that moment ladies and gentlemen.  I’ve hit that wall right smack with my forehead with the power of a resounding, “Thud!”

And it’s only February.

p.s. Wanna see me be sort of funny in a self-tape audition?

Hap Hazardly Thrown Together

Top- F21  //  Scarf – unknown  //  Jeans – Gap  //  Boots – Locale  //  Necklace – c/o Imprintalish
Andrew woke me up this morning and gave me about five minutes to get ready and come downstairs before he had to leave.  I’d showered the night before so it wasn’t the end of the world to just throw on clothes, but it was really challenging try to think about clothes when my brain was still in dream mode. *read: “I almost nodded off again sitting in front of my closet”* So I grabbed jeans and then just molested my closet frantically until something worked.  Turning 90 degrees, I was faced with this scarf and necklace hanging on my scarf rack.  The final step was to throw it all together.
So the morale of this story is two fold.  One, it’s okay to molest your closet when you’re half awake because it won’t press charges.  Two, sometimes outfits are best when they are simply hap hazardly thrown together.

Tried and True, T-Shirt and Jeans Blue

Tee & Jeans – Gap  //  Blue Shirt – Ruche  //  Boots – Le Petite Pieds
Gold Bracelt – Threadsence  //  Jacket, Turquoise Bracelet, and earrings – F21

The unseasonably warm weather had the whole family heading out to the pond for a fun, if muddy, walk.  And the laid back attitude of the whole day had me reaching for the trusty jeans and t-shirt combo.  But knowing me, I couldn’t let it go by without sprucing things up just a touch with some layering and fun accessories.  I mean, what’s the fun in just leaving it plain?  There’s no reason that even a tried and true combo can’t be different and unique.

A family walk is also a great time to just play with some combos, ’cause if you look ridiculous it doesn’t matter.  You’re with your family and they have to stick with you all the way home.
